We were driving to the SuperTarget at Skillman and Abrams this weekend when I screamed at my dear, sweet husband, Dave, “STOP THE CAR! I NEED TO GET THIS ADDRESS!”
Poor guy. This happens all the time with us. We’ll be on a family outing to the grocery store, or to Target (the place where you go when you only need one thing and leave with a cart full of stuff) and all the sudden I’ll see a “For Sale” sign in the front of an adorable home and I’m full-on shrieking to “STOP THE CAR!” The first few times Dave thought he had just run over a squirrel or that our sweet son, Cooper, was about to puke or something. Now it doesn’t even phase him.
So we were driving down Kingsbury and I had a “STOP THE CAR!” moment in front of this adorable little ranch at 6936 Kingsbury, a listing from Dave Perry-Miller agent Scott Jackson. I was in love with the landscaping, the location, the painted shutters, and the beautiful picture window. I thought to myself: I bet this home is listed for about $350K. And dudes, I was almost right! This super-cute updated ranch in Merriman Park is on the market for $359,900.
The entryway has been updated with travertine, and the windows are all vinyl low-e glass. You get formal living and dining at the front of the home, and a beautiful den that opens to the kitchen. The hardwood floors really stand out thanks to the recessed lighting, and the fireplace in the den is just beautiful thanks to the fresh tile. It could use a mantle, but that’s just my personal opinion.
The kitchen features fresh maple cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, gorgeous granite counters, and a beautiful-yet-understated gray glass tile backsplash. There’s a breakfast bar and separate eating area adjacent to the built-in pantry and storage area. Just off the kitchen is a great lounge or office area with French doors that access the back deck.
The master, one of three bedrooms in this house, is kind of underwhelming, but my small gripe is about the vanities in this home. At this price range, I’m not expecting something opulent or custom, but I am a little turned off by the Ikea vanity in both the master and the second bath. I feel like the seller could have done much better.
The backyard, with the rear-access garage and ample driveway, is where this home truly shines. A small lawn with tons of room for a basketball goal and a huge deck for parties and lounging make this backyard just perfect for a family.
What do you think?
