Renovated Buckner Terrace Ranch Reveals Hidden Gem East Dallas Neighborhood

If you are looking to buy in East Dallas and your budget is under $300K, the pickings are slim in most areas.

That’s one reason Buckner Terrace is an up-and-coming neighborhood, and a hidden gem. Minutes from White Rock Lake and close to downtown Dallas, this area is chock full of cute houses in the $200K range, many of them remodeled and ready for move-in.

Our Tuesday Two Hundred is a great example of what I’m talking about. The house at 8448 Bellingham Dr. is a top-to-bottom renovation, built in 1956 and reimagined to be fresh and stylish. It now offers an open floorplan, laminate floors, new carpet, custom cabinetry, a fireplace, new low-E windows, new doors, and a beautiful, modern kitchen.

This home has three bedrooms, two living areas, two bathrooms, and 1,758 square feet on one story.

First, let’s talk about curb appeal. Look at those trees! Fabulous. The house has new landscaping that, while tiny now, will fill in with one of our hot Texas summers. The front porch has new beams and fresh paint, too, and there’s a new front door with glass panel.

Inside, a neutral, soothing palette of grays dominates. The open floorplan creates flow between the front living room, dining area, and kitchen, and gives this home a decidedly contemporary feel. Throughout the home, bright, transitional finishes accentuate that feel. In the living area, a new surround and mantel bring focus to the fireplace, which features gas logs for no-mess winter warming and coziness.

The eat-in kitchen reimagines a typical 1950’s space, now offering light-colored gray granite countertops, a breakfast bar, white Shaker-style custom cabinets, contemporary glass tile backsplash, and stainless steel appliances. There’s room for a small breakfast table, too. Off the breakfast nook is the utility area with hookups for full-size washer-dryer.

The neutral gray palette flows into the three bedrooms, too, which are serene and good-sized with plenty of closet space. The two bathrooms received renovations, as well, and feature modern tile treatments, new vanities and fixtures, and white Shaker-style custom cabinets.

Finally, this home offers a fences backyard with a concrete patio and plenty of grassy green space.

This property was listed Dec. 8 by Mordecai Langer with United Real Estate – Dallas for $297,500, reduced last week to $292,500.
