A Bridge Over Calm Water: Unique Features Make This California Contemporary Stand Out

Really, how many homes in Dallas have a bridge over a pool, leading you to the front door?

I’m willing to guess not many. In fact, besides today’s Friday Four Hundred, the only other one I know of is this home in Urban Reserve, and it has a bridge over a creek, not a pool.

So yes, that cool little bridge makes quite an impact on visitors and buyers, and it also highlights the beautiful sunken elevation of the home. From the curb, you can only see a smidge of the rooftop of 9016 Vista Creek. But once you come down the stairs, the bridge, the pool, and the floor-to-ceiling living room windows with their warm light all give off an undeniable visual experience.

Inside, the home has some great spaces, but could use some updating. I also have to note that this four-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath 1978 contemporary was listed originally at $499,000, but after a price drop to $474,500 it is now under option contract. The home, which rests inside the Dallas city limits but within Richardson ISD’s Moss Haven Elementary attendance area, has a four-car garage, two balconies, a fireplace, and includes more than 3,000 square feet of space.

A smart buyer would change out the traditional finishes in this home with more transitional or even contemporary finishes. This is a home that would do well with warm accent colors and fresh hardwood-look tile throughout. There is a wet bar, two dining areas and two living areas, and plenty of windows to let in natural light.

9016-Vista-Creek-Master-1024x768The master suite is on the first floor, and unfortunately, the listing photos didn’t provide a look at the bathroom. The description alludes to a garden tub and separate shower, as well as a custom walk-in closet. However, I’m always wary of listings that lack photos of bathrooms. What about you?

Upstairs there’s a great office space with a wonderful little balcony off of it. There are other bedrooms upstairs that access a separate balcony space. This gives the home a kind of wistful, treehouse feel that is both funky and a great way to maximize outdoor space and natural light.
