It’s August. It Will Get Hot. Snag This ’50’s Ranch With Backyard Waterpark on Park Lane While It’s Cool

6522-Park-Lane-extOh you would never know it from the street, but this home practically has a waterpark in the back yard! OK, maybe it’s just a great big waterslide but still, this is a highly unusual back yard pool. It had a huge, two-story waterslide installed about the time Hurricane Harbor (originally called Wet n Wild) was built that is accessed from a second story balcony and a spiral staircase.

Talk about a fun backyard. Der Stuka!

Waterslide-pool Waterslide-pool-2 Waterslide-pool2 Waterslide-topThe home-owner,  Jerry Beeson, says he got the slide when his sons were in their early teens. It cost him about $15,000 (Geeze Louise!) during the 1980’s and was installed with the pool. He bought them from the same place that supplied Hurricane Harbor, which used to be known as Wet n’ Wild in those days. He ordered the slide from an affiliated water park in Georgia. Apparently the kids who enjoyed the slides are now grown with families of their own, but they sure enjoy coming home and re-living good family memories, many of which took place on that slide!

6522 Park lane, marketed by Patsy Jones with Dave Perry-Miller, is pretty nice away from the waterslide, too. Walking distance to Preston Hollow Park, this 3,400 square foot home has four bedrooms, four full baths, two living areas, two dining areas and three fireplaces. It’s a very traditional ranch home with circular drive, easy lay-out and a warm, family feel. The kitchen has been updated with granite counters, but to be honest, I might come in with my favorite Manuscript wall color and just say bye-bye to those colored walls. And that wallpaper in the foyer (the doggies are cute) and… the wood deck. And… what else? Think I’d keep the water slide. I hear they are coming back in style :).

Every dining room in Park Cities had red walls. I think there is red on my walls somewhere in this house. That teal — oh dear — it’s so jolting I need a Xanax just to walk in that room.)

So looking beyond the “every room’s a different color”, I says this is a home with incredible bones, great flow, great potential. And you have the best location is Preston Hollow: smack dab on Park lane  (the speed bump side east of Preston) in-between Preston & Hillcrest. Can it get any better? Asking is $815,000 — what do you think about that price?

Yes, you can have a beautiful yard with a pool and a two-story water-slide. Birthdays for your kids or grand-kids are done — have them right here, and make a really big SPLASH!
