ABPA 16th Annual Homes for the Holidays Home Tour Features Four Park Cities STUNNERS! And Here is ONE!

4000-McFarlin

Let’s hope we can keep the ice away from this years’s ABPA holiday home tour, because honestly, if you do not see the interiors of these homes, you will have missed out on probably the greatest Christmas gift ever!

CandyDirt.com is proud to be an official sponsor of this year’s home tour, which takes place on Friday, December 5th, 2014.  As such, we have been fortunate to have toured the homes early to bring you a little sneak-peak. By the way, one home is a total bachelor pad. Park-Cities style!

You have not lived until you have seen 4000 McFarlin. Bring your smart phones to the tour, as you will load the photographs up at this house. I was blown away. Do not let that Georgian, this-is-all-about-a-traditional story look get to you. This is no “Home Alone” house. The interiors are some of the most stunning smooth art deco contemporary I have seen! Interior design by Marci Barnes.

Let’s start with the foyer: the black and white floor is stunning, covered with black and white airplane paint! Nary a knick in it. The stairs are deep ebony-coffee colored wood, with art deco decor everywhere. The foyer is pretty classic, dining to the right, living to the left. In between the living and family room is the “Bar-Brary” that is, a cross between a bar and a library! The colors are a surprising blend of purple (or maybe eggplant) and gray, and the room is designed so flat wood panels fold down to lock in a bartender during a party, those same panels doubling as serving bars.

That’s probably one of the most ingenious features I have yet seen in a home, and I intend to photograph the bejesus out of it the next time I am in that home! Pinterest will explode!

The “Bar-brary” leads into the family room, where you have to look hard to see the art deco shelves are not in fact built ins but actual perfectly sized pieces of furniture. The kitchen is so gorgeous I could steal it: marble, tiles, deep plunge sinks, double dishwashers, stainless appliances. I have in my notes conservation grass in the sunroom. The master is a masterpiece with wet bar, an extra diaper sink in the bath, a command center on his side (there are separate his and her baths, which as we have said before, should really be standard in a home). Oh wait until you see the shower — among the largest in Dallas, with a huge built-in bench.

This home is a can’t miss. I have seen it once and already want to move in.

And let us hope we don’t get a repeat of last year’s Icemageddon Dallas which chilled the ABPA 2013 tour. Still, these amazingly enterprising families managed to raise  $78,000 big ones for the Armstrong Bradfield Preschool Association. This year, their reach could be a record setter!
