A Killer Roofline and Thoughtful Details Make This White Rock MCM a Can’t Miss

We’ve featured this Stanwood Drive property before on daltxrealestate.com, but now she’s got a spectacular remodel that is fuego. And that is your clickbait headline of the day, but never fear, this here is a true story.

This is a full legit, real-deal Midcentury Modern home in the bestest location in Dallas. (Recently a second-grader sassily informed me this isn’t a real word, and she is correct, but still. It’s fun.) Located right by White Rock Lake and the Dallas Arboretum, this home is nestled in all the glory that East Dallas has to offer.

There’s a dramatic cantilever metal roof covering the main living, open-air breezeway, and carport. Curb appeal is tops. Deep gray Roman stacked brick. Wood siding and a slated wood partition line the walk to the front door while also adding privacy to a front courtyard tucked behind a decorative (and functional) brick wall.

The sliding glass door, skylight tucked in the wood plank-lined ceilings, and clerestory windows make nighttime on Stanwood freaking magical. Compass’ Carmen DiPenti said the moonlight, colors, and textures are incredible.

In the kitchen, the cabinets have the original angled drawers creating more space and they’re topped with white quartzite. The walls are all neutral, creamy white to let the wood floors, ceilings, and accents take center stage.

The spacious primary bathroom is a unique combination of varied blue penny tile – the perfect contrast to the woodgrain tile that lines the shower and ceiling – then the simplest, glossy white vanity. I can’t even explain it, but the colors and just the way this whole bathroom is put together is so soothing. What a killer primary retreat.

There are just so many interesting details in this house. Like the breezeblock inset in the kitchen door and the grasscloth covering the doors in the office. Those are the thoughtful, creative details that set this house apart.

Great backyard, too, with an area carved out for a firepit, river rocks forming a winding “creek” bed, a stylistic corrugated metal fence, and a generous covered patio. A++++, right??

Now if you excuse me, I’m going to go spend the rest of the afternoon redesigning my house in my head because this one is just one of those – inspirational, bro.

DiPenti has 8719 Stanwood Drive listed for $645,000. If you’d like to see it in person, DiPenti will be posted up at the open house slated Saturday, Aug. 12 from noon to 2 p.m.
