Eustis is a colorful avenue in Little Forest Hills near White Rock Lake, where homes of green, yellow, red, and blue line the curb-less streets. But this week’s Inwood Home of the Week, sponsored by Inwood National Bank, takes eclectic up a notch as it’s known colloquially as the Blue Alamo.

Set on nearly a quarter-acre lot, this two-bedroom, two-bath home has 1,481 square feet and includes a bonus artist’s shed-slash-garage. But before you start scrolling past the home photos and salivating over the lot size, you should know something. To buy into this neighborhood, an artist smock is encouraged but not required.

Listing agent Jenny Capritta of RE/MAX DFW Associates describes this home in the MLS description as a Mission-style custom because that sounds better than “shanty shabby chic.” But around here, the latter could be a term of endearment for this neighborhood whose slogan is “Keep it funky.” About half of the original White Rock Lake cottages from the 1920s and 30s remain, but a lot of what’s been built here is in keeping with that cottage style prevalent in the neighborhood, Capritta says.

“Everyone’s an artisan here and that creates a really great vibe in the neighborhood,” she says.

Inside you’ll find a transitional home with all the benefits of a newer build. With a spacious open floorplan and tall ceilings, this one is sure to capture someone’s heart. The home features wood floors, recessed lights, a fireplace, and fresh alabaster paint that enhance this gem. The spacious kitchen has ample storage space and room for a center island. An owner’s suite created in 2013 features a 16′ walk-in closet and industrial-style bath with a huge shower. Enjoy Mother Nature awaken in the delightful sunroom or under the covered backyard patio that overlooks your backyard oasis.
