How’d you like to have Candy Evans for a neighbor, stopping by for a cuppa now and again? Let’s get real, it’s more likely going to be a glass of champagne! Our Inwood National Bank Home of the Week is a gorgeous Preston Haven Estates contemporary at 11414 Parkchester Drive and it’s hop, skip, and a jump from your favorite blogger.

Listed by Brian Davis with The Davis Home Team at  Weichert Realtors, Watson & Associates just days ago for $1.699 million, it’s an absolutely wonderful family home inside and out.

Preston Haven Estates is a practically perfect location according to Candy.

“It’s close to both Preston Forest and Preston Royal, and Preston Center is about a five-minute drive with no traffic. There is the Cooper Aerobics Center close by as well as tons of churches, private schools, and the greatest grocery shopping in town,” Candy said. “As far as security, there is an organized police patrol that really helps keep crime in check. And we know the Sanger Harris building is going bye-bye but when Midtown is up and booming, there won’t be a better place to live. What I REALLY love about this area is how easily you can get north or south via the Dallas North Tollway!”

So, you’ve got a great location and then there is the two-story home! It’s huge, at 4,928 square feet, with five bedrooms, four bathrooms and a powder bath. The present owners remodeled the entire home in 2013 and with exquisite taste.

“They did a fantastic renovation,” Davis said. “I sold the house to the present owners several years ago, and when I returned to list it for them I thought wow, it’s not even the same house! There is no wasted space, a great open floor plan and they added incredible art lighting. It’s also within walking distance to the Northaven Trail.”

One of the really clever aspects of this remodel — and we hope every investor, flipper and remodeler will take note — is turning the formal dining space into a home office that opens to the living room and the kitchen. It makes perfect sense.

The main living area was opened up and laid out in a very intelligent manner. We especially love that there is a kitchen prep island and a secondary eat-in island. This is brilliant, not only for family needs but also for entertaining.

The master suite is downstairs and it’s impressive that the sellers did not shortchange the Jack-and-Jill bath between the children’s rooms. They used the same stunning Calcutta marble installed in the master bath, creating a sophisticated, timeless space that will beautifully serve any age range.

A huge light filled game room, two bedrooms and ample storage space occupy the second floor.

Now, this is a backyard made for entertaining all ages. There is exterior accent lighting in those gorgeous mature trees, an over-sized deck, built-in cooking area and that custom-built kid’s playhouse means everyone is going to be happy, especially if you have Candy coming over with champagne!
