A Clever Conversion in Bluffview Estates

In a neighborhood full of tear-downs and beautifully built-up moderns, this 1950-built home in Bluffview Estates fits in perfectly. An old brick carport has been converted to a full-fledged garage with an aluminum frosted glass garage door and the look is positively modern. For this clever conversion and many other reasons, this lovely home is this week’s High Caliber Home of the Week, sponsored by Lisa Peters of Caliber Home Loans.

Now, we should tell you it just went under Active Option Contract as we were writing today, but that doesn’t diminish our enthusiasm. An interesting home is an interesting home. Listing agent Sally Myers of David Griffin and Associates Realtors describes this four-bedroom, single-story home as one with mid-century character with a contemporary feel. On its brick and stone facade, you’d probably study it to see whether its new or old, and that’s great for neighborhoods that have a certain style to them.

Step onto the deep-set front porch and through the frosted glass door, and you’ll pick up on the midcentury vibes. Now, I don’t know whether a floor can whisper ”I’m nifty from the ’50s” but in case it can’t, we’ll tell you these are the original hardwood floors. We’ve heard that antique wood is better than today’s wood, even if the wood and plank size were matched up, and the proof is in these pristine floors.

In this front formal living area, there’s a cute window nook where you could place a pair of chairs and enjoy the travertine fireplace. These owners are art lovers so they’ve added recessed art lighting to spotlight works of art or sculpture at an angle without casting shadows from the frame.

Art has another impressive spotlight in the vaulted center hall topped with clerestory windows. This hallway leads to the open plan living, dining, and kitchen area. At center, there’s a pair of oversized patio doors with sidelights that look onto the covered back patio and large fenced yard.

The fully-equipped kitchen features a stainless gas cooktop, double ovens, a built-in refrigerator, two sinks including a vegetable sink, and an eat-in breakfast bar. Above- and below-cabinet lighting add a bright, cheery touch.

We haven’t even gotten to the split bedrooms yet. Two are huge and could be dual primaries.
A third bedroom is set up as a work studio or a dream craft room, plus there is an alcove with a built-in desk, cabinets and drawers. In total, there is 2,869 square-foot set on nearly a quarter-acre lot in the verdant neighborhood of Bluffview near Lemmon and Lovers.
