A lot goes on at the Painted Tree development in McKinney. Seemingly, the 1,100-acre development is expanding every week.

This week, Painted Tree is getting a major apartment complex.

Oxland Group announced Monday that Davis Development will be developing 600 multi-family units at Painted Tree. The community will open in two phases in 2022.

Homes will feature three- to four-story interior corridor buildings with elevators and upscale amenities. They’ll be constructed near Lake Forest Boulevard, west of U.S. 75.

“The inclusion of multifamily housing at Painted Tree allows us to offer a broad range of home options that best accommodate what our residents are looking for in North Texas,” says Tom Woliver, Oxland Group co-president and founder. “Davis Development has been a terrific partner in ensuring we continue to offer the best housing and amenity packages for future residents.”

The development has all kinds of amenities:

  • A clubhouse features featuring lounge areas with televisions and games, a gourmet demonstration kitchen, coffee and hot tea bar, a two-story fitness center, golf simulator lounge, paw spa, movie theater, cyber lounge, conference room and private offices, bike storage, and repair room, and more.
  • Outdoor amenities include a dog park, car care center, grill stations, courtyards, two relaxing resort-style pools with Wi-Fi, sun shelves, cabanas, and retreat views.

Painted Tree has been a flurry of activity since it was introduced in October 2020 as a 3,400-home development with homes starting near $300,000s. In June, Oxland Group announced that it was adding 25 miles of paths and trails. In July, Oxland announced that 1,200 of its residential homesites will be delivered in the project’s first phase with a projected opening in 2022. Also, the city of McKinney announced that it was purchasing 230 acres for a public park.

And don’t forget the goats. Woliver found a unique way to clear land by bringing in 100 goats to gnaw down 11.5 acres of thick underbrush.
