One of my favorite things in the world to do is search by house style. It’s prepopulated, so you can’t just make up a style or anything, but there are some good ones in there.
Midcentury Modern (obviously), Victorian, Craftsman, and Tudor is another popular one, and with the rise of Chip and Joanna, Modern Farmhouse recently made the cut.
But there’s one that doesn’t turn up a ton of results. Like ever. It’s GeoDome. I check it periodically just to see who’s living in a golf ball out there, and lo and behold, today is everyone’s lucky day. Collectively. Together. Bonded as one over this Geodesic Dome in … wait for it … Shreveport, Louisiana. Home of riverboat casinos! And I feel like there’s a mayonnaise company based there or bottled there. And lots of other stuff, too.
Like, multiple geodesic dome homes. How do I know that? Cityview Realty’s Jason Brown flat out told me. He said this is one of only a handful of geodesic domes in Shreveport. The fact that there are more is mindblowing and I love it.
Who got the wild hair out to our east to start building domes? Who cares? Let’s just take a moment to enjoy all this one has to offer.
It’s a three-bedroom, two-bathroom home with just over 2,000 square feet. It could be a family home, a bachelor pad, or maybe even a lucrative Airbnb. I would 100% stay there. That’s all I’m saying.
Brown goes on to explain that this home in particular is the best of both worlds. It’s located in an established subdivision and also sits on nearly one acre. It’s near a major highway, but it qualifies for rural development. You can shop in town or grow your own garden. You can do it all in your GEO HOME.
One thing that kind of blows me away about this house is it’s pretty modern inside.
The buttercream yellow siding on the exterior makes you think it might be a bit more cottage-y or country kitsch, but nope, this is straight-up sleek inside.
It’s not all white and gray, but it definitely feels like there have been some updates since its original construction in 1984. Yes, plenty of the original details remain. Those A-framed windows! The hexagonal skylights! Yes, LIGHTS.
