If you have ever been to Fort Worth you will recognize the Montgomery Ward Building.  Built in 1928 on West 7th St., near the Trinity River and downtown Fort Worth, it was one of the regional retail and mail order warehouses for the retail company, Montgomery Ward.  Numerous Fort Worthians will tell of visits to the mammoth building as youngsters with fond memories.

The building survived The Big Fort Worth Flood of 1949 as well as the Tornado of 2000 … barely.  In 2000 a tornado ripped straight down West 7th St. on its way toward downtown and did a good deal of damage to the building that had been vacant due to the struggles of Montgomery Ward as a retailer.

In 2004 the Montgomery Ward Building became Montgomery Plaza as it went through a drastic transformation from a retailer and warehouse to a hip, hot, and happening residential condominium landmark, starting a renaissance of the West 7th corridor that continues to this day.

With it’s new purpose, the Montgomery Plaza has become the epicenter of urban living, shopping, dining, entertainment, and activities in Fort Worth.

Look no further than the condominium located at 2600 West 7th Street #2450 if you are looking for upscale urban living, convenience, and excitement.

High ceilings and open spaces make #2450 just right

Found on the fourth floor of the building, #2450 is a two-bedroom, two-and-one-half bathroom, high-ceiling, exquisite condominium with amazing downtown views.

Did someone say downtown views? Yep…#2450 has those

If you visit condominiums often, you will understand that many have very small closets, bathrooms and storage spaces.  Not this one!  Not only are the rooms well-proportioned for today’s furniture and designed to accommodate multiple guests, but the bathrooms and closet spaces are extremely generous for a condominium of 1,798 square feet.  The kitchen pantry and master closet have been upgraded with California Closet designs to maximize the spaces and to continue the fresh, modern, urban feel that comes with this property.

Residents of Montgomery Plaza not only live in the coolest building in Fort Worth, but are privy to a private media room, meeting lounge, putting green, workout room, concierge and of course the rooftop pool.

While I’m sure the designers and builders of the building in 1928 never conceived that one day their structure would be a landmark residential establishment, I’m sure they would concede that residences of Montgomery Plaza are living in a true Fort Worth landmark.

Unit #2450 at 2600 West 7th St. is listed by Susanna Gorski Bartolomei of Williams Trew Real Estate for $565,000.  Because it is a 24-hour, privately secured residence, interested parties need to contact a real estate sales professional for a formal tour of the home, as well as the facilities.

That’s all from Tarrant County this week Dirty Readers.  Remember, if you have comments, questions, snide remarks or ideas for future stories – I’m always here to listen!
