Everyone I’ve chatted with about this year’s Hollywood Home Tour is tremendously excited about getting a peek inside that cute little blue cottage in Hollywood Heights. If you need reminding, you obviously haven’t been paying attention. Let me help you with that:

I know, right? Too cute for words. That’s Kelly and Tom Hoffmann’s sweet little abode on Santa Monica, and if you think it’s adorable from the street, just wait until you see inside!

Now, if you want to get a closer look, just go ahead and snag your tickets to the 25th annual Hollywood Home Tour, which is set for April 30-May 1. They’re only $15 and available at Curiosities at Abrams and Gaston or at Lindsley Park on the day of the tour.

Additionally, there’s an auction party 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 29, at the Dallas Arboretum. Enjoy food, drinks, live music, and the opportunity to bid on a fantastic collection of locally sourced items all while overlooking White Rock Lake and the Dallas skyline. Tickets for the party are $65 until Wednesday, April 20, and $75 from April 21 to 25. Reserved tables for 10 are available for $600. Don’t miss out — buy your tickets here.

Take a break from the home tour on Sunday for the free, family-friendly Hollywood Art in the Park in Lindsley Park from noon to 5 p.m. Art in the Park will feature local and regional artists and artisans offering an assortment of art and handmade goods. The event will also feature food trucks, children’s activities, and performances by local musicians.

daltxrealestate.com: What room or design element of your home will stand out to home tour goers?

Kelly and Tom Hoffmann: When we moved into our home in 2008, many of the original details of the home had been changed over its 96-year history. In our renovation in 2015, we were determined to preserve the few remaining original details, so we think the room that will stand out to home tour goers would be the study due to the original details in the room. We found original shiplap wood behind the drywall and preserved it, using some of that wood as an accent wall. The same room has the original windows from 1912 that still open with the rope-and-pulley system.

CD: Is there any feature or finish in your home that tour goers shouldn’t miss?

K & T: Our friends and family that have seen the house love the chandelier light fixture and our choice of a modern spin on oscillating fans in the kitchen, master bedroom, and outdoor patio.

CD: If you had to choose one spot — inside or outside — on your property where you could spend all day, where would it be and why?

K & T: We love being outside with friends, family, and our animals, so we would say the back porch and yard. It is perfect for grilling on the covered porch or for cozying up next to a warm fire with the outdoor fireplace while watching the dogs run around and play in the yard.

CD: What are you doing to prepare for the home tour?

K & T: We are busy making sure all our landscaping is spruced up and hanging those last minute wall hangings!

CD: What construction or renovation have you completed since you moved in? In what ways have you put your fingerprint on your home?

p1656527270-o663743961-4

K & T: When we moved in, the construction was finished. However, we have definitely put our own touches as the majority of the house design was created by Tom. We had a clear vision of building a home that brought in some historic elements with an updated and modern twist. We love traveling and have collected items from our travels that have incorporated into the home.

CD: Is there any history behind your home? Your neighborhood? Care to share?

K & T: We have been told that our home is a farmhouse for a dairy that existed in the Lakewood area and dates back to 1912. The original homeowner was a dairy farmer.
