They don’t paint them like they used to, do they? Drive through any “vintage-inspired” new development — you know the ones that claim to be designed after great neighborhoods of the 1920s and 1930s — and you’ll see the same few shades of white, cream, or gray. What about blue?!
Yes, BLUE. They don’t paint homes blue or yellow, or a tasteful shade of green anymore. Why not?
Probably because today’s builders are too afraid that the public won’t like the color and the home will sit on the market … but I would contend that homes of those hues would spark the interest of the paying public and would not languish on the market at all.
Historic Neighborhood, Historic Colors
Walk through the historic Fairmount neighborhood in Fort Worth and you’ll find all sorts of colors. Back in the 1920s when many of those homes were built, I guess people were more daring or bold.
You can’t miss the home at 1824 Alston Avenue in Fairmount. Located on the corner of Alston Avenue and Richmond, the home is not only a beautiful example of Craftsman architecture and design … it’s also blue!
