Absolutley Regal Condo Inside Aptly Named “Imperial House”

Imperial-House-Front

I’m sure you’ve all at least driven past the Imperial House Condos on Averill Way. Built in the early 1960s, it was a new paradigm in luxury living. Today, not much has changed at Imperial House. It’s still quite luxurious and the location behind the pink wall is fantastic. Of course, you won’t have to deal with any construction noise or traffic, now that Transwestern’s plan for an upscale apartment community at Preston and Northwest Highway has been shot down, so you can enjoy a little time at the courtyard pool in peace if you purchase this lovely first-floor unit.

“The Imperial House was developed by Sid and Ada Lynn, with George Dahl as architect in the early 1960s,” said Ebby Halliday Realtor Joe Gall, who is the listing agent for Unit 109E inside Imperial House. “When the current owner bought this unit several years ago, Ada Lynn still lived at the Imperial House. The two became good friends and she helped decorate the unit … almost 50 years after she and her husband built the property!”

That’s fantastic! And Lynn must have had some great style as this condo is absolutely gorgeous. Do we spy some Waverly wallpaper in the entry? And check out the ceiling in the formal dining room! How’s that for some drama? It’s listed for $339,000, which seems fair considering the upgraded kitchen and marble-swathed master bedroom.

The unit is larger than your average garden-style condo, with more than 1,900 square feet. There are two bedrooms, two and a half baths, a laundry room, and a 300-square-foot secure storage area. You get two garage spaces, access to all the amenities, utilities, electricity, and maintenance for a monthly $905 HOA fee.

The kitchen is gorgeous, with dark stained cabinetry and modern lines. It has tons of storage space and stainless steel appliances, including a commercial-grade range. This galley is for some serious cooking, with double ovens, marble counters, and an industrial range hood and stainless backsplash. It’s large, too, which is not what you’d expect from a condo such as this. What a surprise, indeed!

The master bedroom is large at 20 x 14, and has plenty of room for a sitting area or small letter desk. It’s the master bath that’s really impressive. With a five-piece layout including a separate tub and shower with marble on just about every surface, it feels so luxurious, light and bright.

A bonus to this condo is the private landscaped patio, which you’ll appreciate if you like to have a few potted plants to enjoy with your morning coffee. So what do you think of Imperial House now?
