School’s out … well, almost! Today’s the last day for a lot of North Texas students. Followed by the Memorial Day three-day weekend.
We could get caught up in the true beginning of summer, which is June 21, but that’s just not practical for a place as hot as Texas. Summer, if not the scientific astronomical summer, begins at least psychologically this weekend. Bring on the burgers. Bring on the sun. Bring on the swimming pools.
Yes, in Texas access to water is a summer necessity. Those without one can find ways to work around that, but what could be better than a swimming pool in your own backyard? It’ll make you popular among friends and neighbors who don’t have one. It can be a source of physical health. It can benefit your mental health. And it’s a pretty sight in your backyard.
This week’s featured open houses for daltxrealestate.com all have pools. Bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and living areas — they got those, too, but it’s summertime. Easy living includes a pool, and look what we found.
5204 Pool Road, Colleyville
It seems a given that anyone living on Pool Road should have a pool. The home at 5204 Pool Road in Colleyville won’t disappoint in that department.
Enter the front door of this custom home and the enormous glass wall allows the spectacular backyard to come into view. Flagstone and natural elements accent this pool’s elevated rustic setting. It’s surrounded by a beautifully enclosed patio, a perfect spot for sipping coffee in the morning and wine in the evening.
The house does have other benefits besides the pool. Listed at $1.83 million, the home features five bedrooms and seven baths in its 5,765 square feet. The interior’s extras range from beautiful moldings to hand-scraped floors to Viking appliances. Bonus extra? The home’s location is Colleyville but so very close to Southlake and Grapevine and all three suburbs’ amenities.
This home, listed by Matthew Crites with Coldwell Banker Realty, will be held open from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday.
2610 Marvin Avenue, Dallas
Put aside the notion that backyard pools only accompany monster-sized houses. This two-bedroom, two-bath jewel box has all the charm of an older home AND a backyard pool!
Here’s something else to note: the house may have been built in 1939, but the pool heater was updated in 2022, and the pool equipment in 2021. It’s a salt-water pool accompanied by a spa, so enjoying this water feature could be a 12-month-a-year experience.
This Austin stone cutie boasts wood floors and an updated kitchen but maintains the original architectural features for all the charm. A two-car garage, living room fireplace, and updated master bathroom checks a lot of boxes off the house-hunting list. The Kessler Plaza location is a huge perk since it’s near Stevens Park Golf Course, Trinity Groves and Bishop Arts. It’s listed at $439,000.
Susan Melnick with Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate will hold this house open from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday.
4416 Mira Vista Drive, Frisco
This home’s swimming pool is ready to be a summer oasis. The house was built in 1999, but the pool, deck, and heater have all been updated. This glistening home lagoon is a focal point of the backyard and can be seen from the large windows across the rear of the house and from the primary suite’s second-story balcony.
Priced at $825,000, the red brick house contains five bedrooms, four bathrooms, a two-story foyer, a large family room, and a downstairs office. With its 3,821 square feet, the house is a made for a family who likes to entertain. Party in the pool or party in the kitchen. The kitchen features double islands, a gas cooktop, and a breakfast nook. An electric gate opens to the three-car garage.
In addition, the new homeowners should have zero worries about staying cool this summer. In addition to splashing in the pool, the air conditioning, replaced in 2022, should be just what North Texas’ June, July, and August need.
The home, listed by Mary Reeves with Ebby Halliday Realtors, will be open to the public 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday.
