In case you missed our other entries, on Sept. 22, daltxrealestate.com is going to Warr … The Warrington that is. Our next Staff Meeting open house event will traverse four units at The Warrington. Previously units 3C, 11B and 18E were showcased and you can catch up here, here, and here, respectively. Today we’re moving a pinch further up further up to 19F.
Why do I live in a high-rise? This. Sitting out on a patio and looking. Perhaps a new generation doesn’t appreciate views that stretch beyond a smartphone screen, but I do. I find them at once relaxing and puzzling … puzzling because you find yourself trying to identify buildings and landmarks in the distance. Often when you have guests over, there’s the game of pointing out objects and then the inevitable labyrinthine directions … “see that tall, light colored building on the right? To the left do you see the short, round building? Now follow the power lines until you see two trees…..”
I find wine helps.
Unit 19F is a 2,431-square-foot home containing three bedrooms with two full and one half bathrooms. It’s been newly listed by Rob Schrickel with Ebby Halliday for $1.2 million. This home is traditionally designed with parquet floors and impressive millwork. The home has plenty of built-in bookcases to showcase your worldly treasures or library of … well, books. Being a high-rise, there’s plenty of window space for light and bright living.
The formal dining room continues the classic design with a wall of built-ins to act as serving buffet and china storage. For those looking closely, you’ve seen the clever use of pocket doors separating the living room when needed for more intimate dinners.
The kitchen has been well-remodeled, but before diving in, I thought you’d like to see another detail. Another pocket door separating the kitchen from the living areas. Not everyone wants their kitchen in the living room and I do like a pocket door. They’re more like walls that move than doors.
The Warrington does have large kitchens and this one is no exception. As the white-white-white kitchen phase passes, traditional kitchens like this with mid-tone wood cabinets, glass-front doors and acres of countertops will always be stylish. As you can see in the distance you can see tons of storage and a bump-out pantry (see what I mean? How many condo kitchens can boast anything being “in the distance”?)
Most larger high-rise units have bedrooms in excess of residents (I live alone in a 3-bedroom myself). This study/office area is what we do. More great built-ins and views for miles will either make the work sail by or feed procrastination. For me, that depends on the day of the week.
Here’s one thing I‘d have to change in an otherwise bright, spacious master bedroom … the mirrors would have to go. I can only assume the current owners are supermodels or own stock in a pajama factory because I know in a post-50 world, mirrors are now working for the enemy. (Ceiling mirrors might give me a heart attack as I opened my eyes to see myself in a casket each morning … LOL)
For those looking to splash out on personalizing this home for them, the master bath is the perfect spot for a little sprucing up. The space is all here thanks to the Warrington’s oversized master bathrooms. Personally, peel a little wallpaper, change out the double vanity and install smaller individual mirrors. It wouldn’t break the bank and your view each morning and evening would be the results of your style.
I’ll leave you where I found you … on the balcony. I think the sculpture captures the joy of living in the Warrington and the giddiness of looking out onto the changing skyline of Dallas. It’s a “picture” Warrington owners have watched mature as Dallas grows.
On the 22nd you too could be standing on this balcony and enjoying the same views. One of you could be enjoying these views or the views from any of our other featured listings for years to come.
