A Blue Ribbon Midcentury RanchNo Shortage of InterestPlenty of Separation of Space

There’s just something about a really well-done Midcentury Ranch, isn’t there? Most of the time we see these redone ’60-era homes and they just fall flat. The vibe is off.

But when you come across one that’s been updated gradually by someone who cares about the details, then you sit up and take notice.

A Blue Ribbon Midcentury Ranch

“This home has a grand, almost regal quality about it,” says Bart Thrasher, the David Griffin and Company Realtor who listed this 1962-built Midcentury Ranch. “It is very serene and solid — I feel very comfortable there.”

If there was ever a greater compliment to a home I haven’t heard it.

You see, Bart is a bit of an architecture snob — and that’s not really a bad thing. He and his wife, Karen, are both passionate about architecture and construction. So when Bart gives a house high praise — despite his status as its listing agent — that’s a blue ribbon at the stock show.

No Shortage of Interest

Of course, others are sure to recognize a great house, too, so it’s no surprise that this Oak Park Estates home had an offer within four hours of it going active. In fact, this house wouldn’t even be on the market if the sellers hadn’t received a dream job offer in Santa Fe.

“Can you blame them? I mean really?” Bart protested. “They are good friends of mine, so it is hard to say goodbye. They will certainly be missed!”

But what’s not to be missed are these hardwood floors that stretch throughout most of this almost 2,000-square-foot, three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath Midcentury Ranch.

Plenty of Separation of Space

While most renovations that are done to turn a profit will open up the entire living area to create rooms that bleed into one another, the separation of space in this home is refreshing.

“The floor plan is well done — there is a clear distinction between the public and private sides,” says Bart.

There’s plenty of openness to allow the light from the immense windows in this home to permeate the formal areas and land in the cozy den. There’s a sizable pass-through in the kitchen that allows plenty of room for conversation between the spaces but doesn’t leave your sink overflowing with dishes in the limelight.

“I can’t say enough about the big corner lot!” says Bart. “Perched on the side of a hill, there are even some views to the south in the backyard. I love the automatic gate and attached two-car garage (jealous!) that can be used as a cabana when entertaining.”

Bart Thrasher with David Griffin and Company Realtors has listed 1606 Trailridge Drive for $400,000.
