This Preston Hollow New Custom Contemporary is Exceptional

It’s tough to find a luxury lease anywhere these days and even more of a challenge in a great area like Preston Hollow. So, when this new custom contemporary popped up this week, I couldn’t wait to share it with you. Of course, it’s gorgeous, but it’s the thought that has gone into it that makes it exceptional

This is an exciting new luxury lease for several reasons.

First. It’s from a builder new to Preston Hollow — Ex-Nihilo Custom Homes. I think they are going to shake things up a bit, and that’s a good thing.

Second. The storage is beyond belief. The owner of Ex-Nihio is Juan Rodriguez, and he has six daughters. You know what that means, don’t you? He’s created a house ladies love because he gets it. He knows we need custom closets and tons of storage—everywhere. There is zero wasted space in this 5,998-square-foot new custom contemporary home. ZERO.

Third. If you had not noticed, girls never walk anywhere in single file. We walk in groups, next to one another, even in our own houses. So, Rodriguez made sure the hallways and staircases are extra wide.

He also chose to enclose the all-important home office behind a glass wall just off the kitchen. I think this will start a trend. We all want a degree of privacy but working from home with kids means you need to keep an eye on them. This is the best solution I’ve ever seen.

The next few features I want to point out may not be obvious at first glance. Frankly, I don’t know how any builder today can overlook this one, but most do. Rodriguez included a dog washing station just off the kitchen. NO bending over the tub or dragging the furry beast into the shower with you. Yes, I’ve done both, and no, it’s not fun for either of us.

There’s also something rarely seen in Dallas homes, a climate-controlled partial basement. It’s the perfect spot for a wine cellar or a gun safe. I think, additionally it would make a great spot to shelter from anything at all, especially if you have wine!

This five-bedroom, five-bathroom home has two powder baths and a bonus room with a kitchenette. But wait, there’s more! Remember every bit of space is used in this house. Rodriguez captured space inside one of the upstairs bedrooms that most builders would have just boarded up. He turned it into a little secret room for kids. I mean, who doesn’t love a secret room?

It’s these well- thought-out touches that take a home to the exceptional level we all want. And to get this in a luxury lease is unheard of.

Rodriguez’s wife Valerie is responsible for the gorgeous finish-out and the beautiful staging. I’d like to know where she sources her marble, because the master shower is sheer drama. That wall is also illuminated from behind. I’d fill the tub with ice and throw a party in here.

This is what I mean by thinking a room through. Not only is there the cool secret room, there’s also a study nook with all the built-ins you need.

Outdoor living is essential in Dallas, and this new custom contemporary home has everything necessary to beat the heat and enjoy summer. There’s a covered patio, a full outdoor kitchen, and a gorgeous pool. What more can you ask for?

Dave Perry-Miller’s Deanna Castillo has this new custom contemporary home, at 6839 Orchid Lane, available for lease at $20,000 per month. If you decide you cannot live without it, the sale price is $2.075 million.

Remember this is Preston Hollow, whether you lease or purchase, that’s a great price!
