This East Kessler Bungalow Is Whoa With Extra O’s

Today’s home is just so pretty. It’s like something you’d see in the countryside of some romantic other world. But it’s here. In Dallas. It’s a 1930s bungalow with the most jawdropping dang landscaping you can imagine. BUT YOU DON’T HAVE TO IMAGINE IT, because it’s right there in the pictures. Isn’t it something though? What a total case study on how incredible landscaping can take a great house and make it ever better.

The first thing that catches your eyes in these photos is that front door. It’s a Dutch door where you can open the top and leave the bottom closed. It’s original to the house, as are a lot of the details including the arched window in the front and the stained glass windows in the back. They remain and hold the same level of charm today they did way back then.

Let’s talk about the color scheme on the front. Like I cannot get over this curb appeal. Can you tell? It’s just so soothing and wonderful. It’s like a timeless little treasure of a house. It’s obvious that someone with elevated taste had a hand in the design. Just picking that creamy white and the surprise blue gray on the shutters. That’s not a rookie move right there. That took some paint swatches and a keen eye to get it just right. I feel like that’s the overall theme of 1306 Woodlawn Avenue in East Kessler. It’s an adult house where everything was very carefully selected to create a timeless (there’s that word again) feel.

Inside the kitchen is big, especially for a house of this size. The rooms are generous too. Dave Perry-Miller’s Michael Mahon commented that the layout is thoughtful, too. It’s not a massive house by any means, but it’s one that’s exceptionally laid out.

And the updates are everywhere. Ann Sacks and Waterworks tile, custom kitchen with soapstone countertops, completely remodeled and taken to the studs in 2008. You can wander the rooms in the photos. It seems like at every turn there’s a new reason to love this bungalow.

Here’s are a few more reasons and they’re biggies… The backyard has a heated pool and spa and three separate outdoor living areas. One is situated by the garage that’s really more than a detached two-car garage. It’s a guest retreat. There’s an apartment up top with a full kitchen and bathroom. The seller used it as an art studio and luxury stay for guests. You could make it an Airbnb, too. But honestly, I don’t think I could. I’d pretty much want to hog this one all to myself.

Bummer alert. Mahon said this one is under contract. It’s a two-bedroom, one and one-half bathroom home with a one-bedroom, one-bathroom guest retreat listed for $685,000. Even though this one is already spoken for, something tells me Mahon will snag another one soon. He always does.

Michael Mahon has listed 1306 Woodlawn Avenue for $685,000.
