This Crestwood Modern is Bright, White, And Just Right

Crestwood Modern

For many, Crestwood conjures the image of a dignified neighborhood of older houses with regal old oak trees (some in the middle of the street). And although a great many Crestwood houses have pre-war pedigrees, there are a fair sprinkling of modern new builds that we have singled out on these pages — and some of them are pretty out there. What they all seem to have in common is respect for the neighborhood setback norms and proportions that conform to their older neighbors.

All of the above are true at 109 Crestwood Drive, which was built this year on a lot that appears to have been vacant for at least five years. The exterior more or less follows traditional dimensions with modern windows and rhythms and metal roofing being among the few tip-offs as to the house’s modernity.

A Crestwood Collaboration

This residence is the result of a collaboration between Otto Build + Design and Braswell Homes. The floor plan is partially open concept with an arched vestibule leading into an expansive great room comprised of a living area, dining area, and kitchen. Ceilings soar to 10 feet, which is high, but not so high as to vex human comfort. Ground floor rooms are oriented to enjoy views of the pool at the back. Distinctive, suspended modern light fixtures act as orientation focuses for the three areas.

The kitchen is defined by an in-sink island/bar with a waterfall quartz countertop. The kitchen includes a wine refrigerator, built-in microwave, and — enjoy them while you can — a commercial-grade gas range.

Surprisingly this house clocks in at over 5,400 square feet with six bedrooms and six-and-one-half baths, which likely includes the party house at the back. The first-floor private primary bedroom suite is tucked away in its own wing, which wraps around the pool.

The suite includes a glamorous bath with a sexy semi-open shower stall, a modern slipper tub, and high-end finishes. Beyond is an extensive closet with a coveted packing table and yards of storage.

Upstairs are additional bedrooms with flexible use options and a party room with another wine fridge and dry bar.

The exterior courtyard space is defined by an impressive architectonic hardscape framing the pool/spa and includes a covered veranda with a fully equipped outdoor kitchen.

The cabana has another kitchen and a large ground-floor area ideal for entertaining. Upstairs is a loft bedroom and bath. There are two garage spaces and an additional covered space on the drive.
