The Sweetest Junius Heights Craftsman Bungalow Just Hit the Market

Craftsman Bungalow

When this sweet Junius Heights Craftsman bungalow hit our inbox, we stopped everything and gawked. How often do you find a flawlessly renovated historic bungalow with a pool? Rarely.

In 1985, Karl and Jana Braddick bought a large two-story historic home on Junius. The neighborhood was full of much smaller Craftsman bungalows serving as rental properties for owners who were not interested in renovating or updating. Five years later, the most distressed home on the block came up for sale, and they realized it was time to be the game changers for the neighborhood.

They purchased this 1920 Craftsman bungalow, gutted it, installed central heat and air, updated the plumbing and electrical systems, and added amenities we take for granted today, like a dishwasher. Their hard work resulted in a restoration award from the Dallas Board of Realtors.

The couple went on to save many more homes in the 5900 block, inspiring others to do the same. I think it’s safe to say Junius Heights is one of the most sought-after historic neighborhoods today, largely because of the Braddicks. It just goes to show it only takes one or two people to make an enormous impact on a neighborhood.

This sweet 1,650 square foot, three-bedroom, two-bathroom Craftsman bungalow has been meticulously cared for and updated over the years, with a subsequent owner installing a pool and creating a veritable paradise in the backyard.

The current owners have put their own design touch on the home, with a lively color palette, which is a nice relief from the whiteout we see on most interiors today. Color is an instant pick-me-up, and it’s one of the many reasons you don’t stop smiling in this home.

The owners of this Craftsman bungalow had been taking regular walks by a house Compass agent Nyda Faith had just listed in the neighborhood. They kept seeing her outside the house, watering the new sod. (Yes, some Realtors go that extra mile, and Faith is one of them!) When they decided to sell, they knew she was the perfect choice to sell their home.

Faith has this sweet Craftsman bungalow at 5904 Junius St. listed for $689,900. She’s hosting an open house on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. We don’t expect this charmer to be available for very long!
