The Dallas Gem Defines The Perfect Ranch-Style Retreat

From the old Hollywood aesthetics to the midcentury adaptations, ranch-style houses have become a staple of American architecture. In fact, in the 1950’s this style accounted for 9 out of every ten builds in California. With long, low-pitched roofs, open floor plans, and vaulted ceilings, this movement easily stands up to today’s style. However, it’s not terribly common to come across the perfect example of ranch-style excellence. When you find one worth updating, you simply have to highlight those classic features and focus on its inherent beauty.

For this week’s Inwood Home of the Week sponsored by Inwood National Bank, we’re super excited to showcase an incredible example of an updated ranch-style home.

Clay Smiley with Compass RE Texas lists 3748 Waldorf Drive for $1.18 million. This stunning four-bedroom, four-bathroom, 2,930-square-foot home exudes the era’s charm with refined updates throughout. Let’s take a look.

First, the curb appeal of this home is as classic as it is creative. With a partial stone façade, hanging exterior lights, and a low-pitched roof, it’s an ode to early ’60s architecture.

Then, upon entering the home you’re immediately struck by the style and sophistication of the interior design. They really did an exceptional job of leveraging existing features to complement the more contemporary touches. Deep hardwoods, a flood of light, and an open floor plan create an airy and inviting feeling. Also, the white-washed brick fireplace nods to that classic ranch-style look while seamlessly blending in with the updated interior finishes.

With two dining areas flanking each end of the living room, this home is perfect for entertaining. Then, the kitchen is a gourmet’s dream. Here, bright subway tiles and stainless-steel appliances create an immaculate aesthetic.

Like other areas of this home, the primary bedroom benefits from big, beautiful windows with backyard views and an abundance of natural light. It lends itself to the tranquility of nature and makes for a serene getaway.

Then, the ensuite bathroom is elegant and updated, featuring a beautiful walk-in shower, dual vanities, and gorgeous marble tilework.

Of course, this home opens up to an array of other bedrooms and bathrooms. Also, it features a huge home office with even more spectacular natural light. This space is so big that it could also serve as a second living room, and probably did at one point.

Finally, the backyard is an absolute dreamscape. The lawn is so well-manicured and centers around a uniquely shaped swimming pool. With the stone walkways and deck, this area has as much style as any other aspect of this home.

If you’re looking for a perfect ranch-style retreat, put this one at the top of your list.
