Terrific Tudor in Lower Greenville Offers Family-Friendly Finish-Out

Lower Greenville is full of houses in every single size and color. They run the gamut of original historic architecture such as prairie-style two-stories that have been through everything and then some, to newer construction that blends in with the historic fabric of this popular East Dallas neighborhood.

This listing, our Inwood Home of the Week, is in the latter category. This brick Tudor-style two-story listed by Catherine Blevens of the BBR Group at Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty is a complete, ground-up rebuild completed in 2016. The home is stunning both inside and out, and provides every amenity an active family could ever desire!

“It was a total gut renovation,” said Blevens. “It added modern comforts while still maintaining the classic Tudor look that is characteristic of the neighborhood. The down-to-the-studs renovation included all new electrical wiring, new plumbing, new HVAC and ducting, as well as new spray foam insulation.”

According to Blevens, the rebuild included some special attention to details, including designer light fixtures and window treatments. Lovers of neutral palettes will be delighted by the clean lines and unfettered design in this five-bedroom, three-and-one-half-bath, two-story Tudor-style home in Lower Greenville. Not only does it feel open, uncluttered, and bright thanks to tons of windows, French doors, and built-ins, but it’s extremely warm and inviting.

As Blevens pointed out, the entire home has gorgeous, nail-down, solid oak hardwood floors save for the bathrooms. And for those who are looking for a forever home, this could be the one thanks to its clever floor plan.

The upstairs game room makes this home perfect for families looking to get into Mockingbird Elementary.

“The master is down, which makes it a great home for empty nesters,” Blevens said, “but the upstairs has four bedrooms and a big game room, so it also works great for a family that wants to be in Mockingbird Elementary.”

Speaking of Mockingbird Elementary, this award-winning Dallas ISD elementary school is highly sought after, and homes within its attendance area often command a premium.

And speaking of premium, that’s how I’d describe the kitchen inside 6055 Penrose Ave., which features Bertazzoni appliances, an enormous kitchen island with farm-style apron sink, and a beautifully bright breakfast area and attached den.

The downstairs master suite is gorgeous, which is exactly what you’d expect after seeing the rest of the home. The bedroom is open and airy thanks to all of the windows, and the master bath has a large double vanity, Carrara marble counters and tile in the separate shower, and a fabulous claw-foot tub.

Not only is this home beautiful, but it’s also efficient, Blevens said. There is a tankless water heater downstairs and a second one for the upstairs baths, two A/C units, and a very tight building envelope.

If you’re not already in love, Blevens says the backyard will fix that. “My clients spend a ton of time in their beautiful backyard, which they landscaped with two tree-line walls, a pool, and also a great area of Zoysia grass for their two pups,” she said. “The modern glass tile and gunite pool plus spa can be operated from your phone with O-Zone water sanitation system, Natures Miracle mineral cleansing system, and a fully integrated in-line chlorinator. It also has a high-power gas pool heater and separate water chiller for those 100 degree days in August!”

“They also put in an Austin-stone feature wall that hides the front of the garage from the backyard and can be lit up with candles and makes for a beautiful backyard setting,” she said. “Motorized retractable Phantom screens on the back porch allow you to open the back doors (or relax on the porch) and let in the fresh air without letting in any mosquitos — all with the push of a button!”

Catherine Blevens with the BBR Group at Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty has listed 6055 Penrose Ave. for $1.09 million.
