Surround Yourself with Sweet Cottage Style in Picturesque Elmwood House

1619-Melbourne-A

We love the sweet cottage style in a renovated North Oak Cliff house built in 1939 and reimagined with a darling aesthetic.

Located in the Elmwood neighborhood, the house at 1619 Melbourne Ave. offers updates galore, from new windows and updated electrical and plumbing to an on-trend kitchen that looks like it jumped off the pages of a design magazine.

Despite its modest size — 1,352 square feet — this house has tons of function and flow with three bedrooms and one bathroom.

Elmwood itself gets raves from neighbors and Heritage Oak Cliff for its natural beauty:

Elmwood is a picturesque North Oak Cliff neighborhood of charming homes and expansive parks. The community is located on gently rolling, tree-shaded hills above the limestone banks of Cedar Creek. This land was once the Tennessee Dairy Farm and remnants of the farm exist to this day, including the former farmhouse and portions of an old stone wall that divided the farm.

Elmwood Park, along the banks of Cedar and Elmwood Creeks, is a focal point of the neighborhood. The park is full of mature trees and is home to a variety of birds and wildlife. The park has play equipment, open spaces for sports, and is a popular place for walking dogs and jogging as well.

Driving up to this house, the curb appeal wins with a covered front porch, sage green paint, and new landscaping. It’s a real head-turner on the block.

Inside, you can stand in the front living room and see all the way back to the kitchen in a newly opened floorplan. Hardwood floors look marvelous in the living and dining rooms and a mock fireplace with attractive mantel is flanked by sconce lights.

In the kitchen, graphic cement tile on the floor grabs your attention and white Shaker-style cabinets play beautifully with the space to make it feel tall and bright. Other features include granite countertops, an island, white subway tile backsplash, and stainless steel appliances. Added square footage to the back of house created a walk-in pantry, large utility room, and extra space for master bedroom closet.

In the master bedroom, those new windows offer views of the backyard and sliding barn doors lead to the bathroom with a walk-in glass shower, trendy tile treatments, and a granite-topped vanity.

In back, you’ll find a one-car garage with workshop, grassy green space, mature trees, and a board-on-board wood privacy fence. Other behind-the-scene updates to the house include a roof that is about three years old and an HVAC that is two.

This Elmwood home was listed July 22 by David Fain with Fain Properties for $295,000.
