The city of Allen might be best known for its 18,000-seat, $60-million-dollar stadium of controversial grandeur like we’ve never seen before, but it’s not even the biggest or most expensive in Texas. Those respective credits go to the 1976-built Memorial Stadium in Mesquite, which seats 19,400 people and Katy ISD’s Legacy Stadium, which cost $70.3 million to build. But Allen’s top-rated schools are just some of the compelling reasons why 100k people call this central Collin County city home.

Long before it was incorporated in 1953, the original township of Allen was a bustling railroad business district. In 1918, the Houston and Central Texas Railroad built a freight and passenger depot which still stands today as the Allen Heritage Center and Depot Museum. Just as population grew with the development of that railroad station, Allen blossomed again when U.S. Interstate 75 was built in 1960 and brought residents north of Plano. For this week’s Suburb Sunday, check out these three Allen homes we found all in the $400,000 range.
