Franklin D. Roosevelt High is about to get a huge update — more than 75 percent of the campus will soon become a construction zone. And when the dust settles, $36 million in improvements will bring in a new library, a restaurant, a fine arts addition, a competition gym, and classroom additions.

In addition, a new main entry and administrative offices, and exterior changes, will give the school a good sprucing up, and the school will also get a new cafeteria. That fine arts addition? It will double as a storm shelter.

Roosevelt-Project-template-Jan.-2019-791x1024The whole endeavor, which is part of the 2015 bond program, began with the design phase in 2017. The district will join District 5 trustee Maxie Johnson, Roosevelt High school alumni, and community members on Sept. 28 at 10:30 a.m. to celebrate the beginning of construction.

Perched on a hill, nestled in a heavily treed lot, this two-bedroom, two-bath home was originally built in 1955, but has been the beneficiary of some modern updates, including a pretty much brand-new kitchen with new appliances, bamboo wood floors, new windows and doors, new fireplace, and completely redone bathrooms.

Practicalities were also addressed with a new roof, foundation repair, new insulation, a tankless water heater, and more.

This Midcentury home is also an easy commute to downtown, Bishop Arts, and a host of other amenities, including the Dallas Zoo.

The home is priced at $295,000, and is listed by Wissam Khazem with Ultima Real Estate.
