When I say the word, “townhome” you probably think of a skinny, two-story or taller, narrow building with shared walls, squished rooms, and not a lot of natural light. If that’s what popped into your mind then I’m about to blow your mind.

Enter Fort Worth’s private Highland Park community

Welcome to a different kind of townhome.

Welcome to the gated neighborhood of Highland Park (not the Dallas neighborhood) near the Rivercrest and Westover areas of West Fort Worth. The tiny enclave of single-family and townhomes is the ideal lock-and-leave neighborhood for those who desire a luxury lifestyle, gated entrance, and exceptional location.

Pass through the purple courtyard gate into a fully updated wonderland.

Located at 2001 Saint Charles Place, this townhome is a rare single-story townhome of 2,842 large and open square feet where natural light pours into every room. Best of all there are no stairs to climb.

Before And After

You know Tarrant County Tuesday is always a sucker for before and after photos. When I saw what our featured townhome looked like only a few years ago, I had to highlight the drastic changes. Let’s start in the living area.

The dark beams made this living area feel very closed and cramped.
Large windows throughout give the home light and open feel.

Totally renovated in 2020, the current owner turned a two-bedroom, two-bathroom property into a three-bedroom, three-bathroom home. The finishes and fixtures are stylish and contemporary and give the home a feeling of an art gallery.

Kitchen transitions are always the most fun to see. It’s not just the paint but the counters and appliances and fixtures that can make a huge difference.

What made us think that painting images of wine and fruit on walls was ever a good idea?

Previously, the kitchen had a very dark look and feel. Stained cabinets, dark flooring, and granite gave the room a dated and drab persona.

Where’d the wine bottle and vine paintings on the wall go? Big difference!

Isn’t that a big difference? The floors are large tiles, counters are the stylish quartz that everyone loves these days, and the cabinets are sleek and clean-lined and look fantastic. Plus, anytime you can get rid of faux texture and images of roosters and vines off the wall it’s always a step in the right direction.

Will the dark look and taupe ever be back in style? Probably. Vines? Never!
It doesn’t even seem fair to compare the before and after photos does it?

We saved the best transition for last. The new primary suite — bedroom, bathroom, and closet — are truly amazing!

Bubble vanity lights … really?
Are those jelly fish or hot air balloons?

Gone are the dark cabinets, the 12-inch by 12-inch ceramic tile on the floor, the wallpaper with jelly fish designs, and the choppy layout.

Yes, that’s the same bathroom area!

What fun it must have been to have taken a sledgehammer to that old bathroom. Gone are the countless walls and doors and now a spacious and luxurious bathroom exists. I wonder what they did with that old jetted tub? What a transition.

Now that’s a luxurious closet.

And There’s a Pool

Did I fail to mention that this transitioned, single-story luxurious townhome in a private, gated community had a pool as well?

Does anyone want to take a dip in the pool?

Just in case you were worried that the current owner failed to update the pool area I wanted to give you one more before photo.

Don’t worry — the pool has been improved as well.

Much better. Away with the falling down fence and gloomy backyard pool area. Now you can sit poolside in your retreat and enjoy the beautiful trees of West Fort Worth as the homesite sits on a hill that provides natural privacy.

All the work has been done. All the heavy lifting and design decisions have been made. All you have to do is contact your agent.
