I have long been a fan of the Preservation Dallas home tours, as they tend to feature truly stunning restorations in Dallas. If you’ve been looking for an opportunity to go, this is the year.

The Preservation Dallas Fall Architectural Tour will include the Binsford Home. It’s the Spanish-style mansion that was going to be auctioned, but then it wasn’t, and then was eventually purchased by North Oak Cliff developer Jim Lake located at 1704 W. Colorado. You’ll also recall that there was some friction between neighbors in Kessler Park over this home hosting weddings and snarling traffic.

If you’ve always wanted to see inside that home, as well as two Turtle Creek Boulevard estates, an intact midcentury modern, a stunning Frank Welch overlooking White Rock Lake, as well as a home on Lakewood Boulevard, you can buy tickets to the Oct. 31 home tour right now.

Patron level tickets are priced at $100 per person and include an additional tour house as well as David Griffin’s beautiful modern home in Kessler Woods. General tour tickets are $50 apiece for the public and $40 apiece for Preservation Dallas members.

Like any Preservation Dallas event, expect to get educated. The Saturday home tour will begin at 8:30 a.m. with breakfast and a 9 a.m. panel discussion at Third Church of Christ, Scientist located at 4419 Oak Lawn Ave. Expect to hear all about architectural significance and its importance in Dallas history during a panel a panel discussion featuring Gail Thomas, Nancy Cain Marcus, Shannon Roberts, Preservation Dallas board president Buddy Apple and moderated by KERA’s Jeff Whittington.
