Let’s face it: we like to accumulate things. Whether we want to admit it or not, it’s not in our DNA to be minimalists. Sure, some might think they live a clutter-free life, but in all reality, we need help organizing our clutter.
We need Sort + Space.
Sort + Space is the brainchild of Melanie Fowler, a member of the National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals, who has a unique talent for organizing messes across the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.
Organized From Birth
“When I was a child, I liked to organize every item in the house, and my mom would always find me in my room arranging and rearranging furniture,” Fowler said. “I have always enjoyed removing and sorting other people’s clutter, and now I’m doing it professionally.”
What started as a hobby and as a favor to friends is now a full-time profession for Fowler.
“Business has been organic. I helped organize one home then another and another,” she said. “Sort + Space has mainly grown by word-of-mouth. My favorite part — watching my clients’ expressions as their new space is reinvented. The stress and anxiety disappears and a new life for their precious items begins. ”

It’s a Passion
To Fowler, a former diagnostician and mother of two who has lived in the Fort Worth area for over 16 years, organizing other’s closets, pantries and rooms is a passion. Every project brings new challenges and constantly reminds Fowler how organizing is not second nature for everyone.
“It’s not just about coming in and throwing away unwanted clothes or items — although that is a big part of Sort + Space,” mentioned Fowler. “I really enjoy arranging and sorting items where they will be used the most and not lost in the mess. It does no good if you have pretty items and you can’t access them because of all the clutter.”

Realtor’s Best Friend
Many Sort + Space clients have come from the real estate community. Sort + Space offers a Realtor Package that is the perfect closing gift for new buyers.
“Realtors are tired of giving closing gifts with little value to their buyers,” Fowler said. “With Sort + Space as a closing gift, I can help unpack boxes, arrange rooms or organize closets as they move into their new home.”

Sort + Space also can assist realtors by arranging and staging assistance for their listings to help make homes look their best for showings.
Organizing is a Team Effort
Sort + Space is much more than putting things where they belong. Before getting to work, Fowler likes to spend time with her clients in their home to hear how they’d like to use their rooms and what their goals are for their home.

She also helps clients by teaching them tips and principles of proper organization.
“By empowering my clients with organizational tools they can hopefully keep their rooms and homes de-cluttered as much as possible,” she said.
