The New Jersey property that has earned the Wednesday WTF title this week has a lot to commend it — a famous owner, lakefront property, private, Midcentury Modern, and less than $1 million.

Check, check, check, check, and check.

This three-bedroom, three-bath lakefront home in West Milford, New Jersey, is (according to NorthJersey.com) owned by Beastie Boys legend Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz and his wife, Kathleen Hanna, is listed for $975,000. It’s been on the market for roughly two weeks and sits on Upper Greenwood Lake.

Like we’ve said before — sometimes WTF means “Why the Face Wouldn’t You?” With its midcentury appeal, this house takes advantage of those lake views with big windows, open sightlines that allow you to see those views from just about anywhere in the house, and those uncluttered, unfussy architectural details that don’t distract from the views.

It appears to be well-maintained, and it also appears that the couple has kept a lot of the original features of the 1955 home, including the pastel tilework in the bathrooms and the wood paneling and details throughout the home.

It’s unknown how long the two owned the home, but it would have made an ideal retreat from New York, with a commute of not quite an hour and a half, and its perch on the lake.

Horovitz was part of the three-member hip hop group the Beastie Boys, along with Mike “Mike D” Diamond and the late Adam “MCA” Yauch. The three sold 20 million records in the U.S., had seven platinum-selling albums from 1986 to 2004, and were only the third rap group to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.
