You’ll Love This Nebraska Midcentury Modern as Long as You Don’t Look Up

Regular readers of my column know my love of anything ‘80s. How far did that love extend, you ask? It went as far as enjoying the World Wrestling Federation. That is until the real WWF sued and the wrestlers had to change their name. I find it funny that the big, bad wrestlers got beaten up by a panda bear in court. I digress.

Now what made the wrestling fun to watch was the predictability of the matches. Hulk Hogan was the good guy and Randy “Macho Man” Savage was the bad guy. Come on, just the names alone make you want to watch.

Now of the two, my fav was Macho Man. No surprise there, I am sure. Macho Man’s character was always over the top. His costumes, the way he would speak. He could make you love him one week and hate him the next. He was so much fun to watch.

You see what I am talking about, right? How could you not enjoy watching this guy? Well, the same can be said about the house featured in this week’s column. It is a Midcentury Modern but … I mean I love Midcentury Modern homes but this one makes me hate it.

This Midcentury Modern home is located at 505 Ridge Road, Bellevue, Nebraska. It has four bedrooms, five bathrooms, and has 3,476 square feet. The owners are asking $695,000.

Now if you are looking at this house and thinking, “I wonder if they had issues with roof leaks?” Picture me looking at you in bewilderment.

You can give me the open floor plan, stainless steel fireplace, and half-moon wall of windows any day of the week and twice on Sunday just do not look up. We had chairs similar to the white ones in my house growing up. I love it but …

If the urethane insulation and elastomeric membrane were to stop leaks, it did not work. Apparently, the dude who wrote the commentary on the second photo did not look at the ceiling inside the house.

The glass above the kitchen sink is sensational and the cabinets look like they are going to attend their first formal, but the ceiling. Is that carpeting? Surely it is not carpeting. Please. No.

The layout and decor of the house are perfect. They even have National Geographic and Time magazines fanned out on the coffee table. I can only imagine there is a lot of water damage in the room since we see more of the floor than the ceiling in the photos.

The house was built by Will, Bill, Phil, and Fran. That explains a lot. I do love their car though.

It is an incredible view from the top of your roof of … Nebraska. Midcentury Modern homes are typically my jam but I am absolutely torn over this house. I turn once again to my wrestling hero, Macho Man, for guidance.
