Bank-Real-Estate-Custom-Monopoly-Custon-Game-3691563-e1552275037619The MetroTex Association of Realtors is now accepting applications for board of director candidates, Texas unemployment numbers inched up slightly, and community opinion is being sought for the Harold Simmons Park — and you can read about all this and more in this week’s roundup of real estate news.

MetroTex Seeking Board of Directors Applicants

If you’re already a member in good standing, the MetroTex Association of Realtors is looking for you — to potentially fill a spot on the board of directors.

Already on the board of directors? The association is also looking for a President-Elect and Secretary/Treasurer.

To qualify to apply for a board position, each director should be a REALTOR® member in good standing for the past two years. To qualify to run for President-Elect or Secretary/Treasurer, the individual should have served as a director for 24 consecutive months prior to his or her term of office.

Interested individuals should head to the MetroTex website for more details and the application.

DFW, State Unemployment Rises Slightly

Dallas-Fort Worth unemployment rose slightly in January, as did the rate statewide, the most recent report from the Texas Workforce Commission said.

In January, Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington registered a 3.9 percent unemployment rate, compared to 3.3 percent the month prior. Dallas-Plano-Irving posted a 3.9 percent rate as well, compared to 3.3 percent in December 2018. Fort Worth-Arlington had a 4.1 percent rate in January, compared to 3.2 percent in December 2018.

Statewide, the seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate rose from 3.7 percent in December to 3.8 percent in January, busting a five-month run of historically low unemployment rates. It wasn’t all bad news, though — the state added jobs for the 105th month straight, with 15,400 nonfarm jobs.
