hands-desk-office-working-1-e1540418100431After agents began getting emails alerting them that someone had attempted to log in to their North Texas Real Estate Information System (or NTREIS) accounts, the MetroTex Association of Realtors warned its members.

The message some received said, “We were notified of a log in attempt on your account from El Paso, TX. This may have been an error. Please verify the below information. Once received we will send you a link to reset your password. We do not store your information on file due to security reasons.”

The message then asked for the user’s log in and password.

“We have verified that this domain name was registered yesterday and we have notified the registrar, as it has been set up by someone for the specific purpose of phishing for login information,” MetroTexas said in a message posted to the association’s Facebook page Wednesday.

“Please do not engage with this email sender ([email protected]) or any links included therein,” it added. “A notification alert has been posted on the SSO login page for all users and NTREIS is currently working to get the domain in question taken out of service.”

NTREIS serves realtors in North Texas, including the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and provides information management services to more than 30,000 Multiple Listing Service (MLS) subscribers in 15 Realtor associations and 6,000 real estate offices.
