April showers bring May flowers, but they also bring high winds, hail storms, and flooding. So it’s a good time for your roof to be performing its best!

Here are some examples of problems our home inspectors find on the roof.

Roof Inspection

This video is a great example of an older-aged roof that has lots of problems. Inspector Adrian gives a good explanation for several common problems we find on the roof.

Crazy Hail

This inspection was done just after a big storm hit Frisco, and our inspector took this photo of hail damage to the siding. That is a LOT of hits.

Faulty Flashing

WR-Flood-052915-1

Flashing is a thin sheet or strip of water-resistant material that’s installed at roof intersections and projections, around windows and doors, and along the tops of foundation walls to direct water flow away from the home. Here you can see some flashing that needs to be replaced. It is rusted, and you can see holes where the nails used to be. Over time the wind has pulled it up, and it’s no longer securely attached, so water can easily get in there.

Brand New Roof?

Just because the house is listed as having a new roof doesn’t mean you should skip the inspection. The amount of damage to this roof says the house flipper wasn’t completely straightforward.

If your roof has survived a few years of Texas storms, it may be time to replace it. You can contact a roof repair company for a free inspection and to find out if your insurance will cover a new roof.
