Our Inwood Home of the Week is a sleek luxury duplex at 3622 Edgewater Street. It’s the sophisticated, grown-up version of your childhood treehouse. Although it was built in 2008, it was brought to life in 2013 with a complete remodel by Cheryl Parsa, Principal and Design Director of Art of Living Modern.

When her client purchased the luxury duplex, he appreciated Parsa’s vision for conscious simplicity and gave her creativity free rein. Thank goodness, as the outcome is absolute perfection.

“It was a major remodel,” Parsa said. “We worked on it for over nine months. “I knew I wanted to have anchored and reflective spaces that included fireplaces, water features, natural stone, and retractable glass walls. The house lent itself very well to bringing the outdoors in which is important to me.”

Parsa left nothing untouched. Cabinets and floors were stripped and re-stained. Sheet-rocked walls were torn out and replaced with retractable glass walls. Three eco-friendly fireplaces were framed and skimmed with concrete. She layered in warmth and texture and opened the house up to nature.

Gray quartz stacked stone from Spain is used throughout the four-level, 2,893-square-foot luxury duplex, creating a dramatic architectural rhythm. It’s even used on the back wall of the small-but-spectacular elevator. The bronze mirror treatment was used on the other three walls, and the ceiling, so you can just imagine the stunning effect of these two elements. Bronze mirror was also applied behind and beside the living area fireplace. It’s a technique that further establishes warmth and creates a subtle openness to the space.02-1024x682

3622-Edgewater-St-vectorThere are three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a powder bath in the home. Parsa continued the floor-to-ceiling windows in the master bathroom using translucent glass to ensure privacy, while maintaining the expansive feel.3622-Edgewater-St-vectorOne of the most wonderful features of this luxury duplex is the rooftop retreat. Parsa used Ipe, a Brazilian hardwood that is weather resistant and one of the hardest woods in the world. Artificial turf guarantees maintenance-free, year-round enjoyment. Can you imagine a dinner party in this sanctuary?3622-Edgewater-St-vector

“This is such a special home,” Compass Real Estate listing agent Catalina Sada said. “It looks to the east, and all you see are green trees. It’s March, so just imagine what it looks like in the summer! The way the deck, kitchen, dining, and living areas all flow together make it a perfect space for entertaining.”

The location could not be better. This luxury duplex sits on the edge of Highland Park within a few blocks of the Katy Trail and all the great restaurants and shops on Knox Street.

If you’re ready for a luxurious life in the treetops and have a cool $1.345 million, give Sada a call!
