It’s not getting any easier to buy a home in Dallas-Fort Worth with rising interest rates, low inventory, and high home prices. That’s why two Dallas real estate experts are teaming up tonight to give homebuyers tools to win in today’s market.

Mortgage expert Lisa Peters and Realtor Loren Hall will present “Homebuyers’ Night” at Compass Real Estate’s Park Cities office, located at 5960 Berkshire Ln. The seminar begins at 6 p.m., but come early for light bites and beverages, Peters says.

For homebuyers, the stress is real. For the past two years, strong buyer demand has kept the market moving at a record pace, even after a massive spike in mortgage rates. Now potential homebuyers are paying $638 more on a monthly mortgage payment compared to a year ago, according to an April 2022 Market Report from Zillow.

Peters is understandably passionate about homeownership. “For years, my mission has been to help as many people possible get into a home,” she says.

The longtime mortgage specialist understands the market well because she’s seen both sides. The Metroplex native began as a real estate agent in the volatile 1980s and worked in real estate management with Ellen Terry Realtors, a successful boutique brokerage that was bought out by Ebby Halliday Companies.

Hall’s broad business background makes her well suited for real estate. She earned a master’s degree in accounting and corporate experience with KPMG. In addition to working as a Realtor, she has worked as both an apartment locator and a forensic accountant. In the latter role, she focused on things like identity fraud, bribery and money laundering. It was a job that required great attention to detail, something she has found especially valuable in real estate.
