10484-Silverock-Dr-extWell, pending at least. But you never know until those checks have been wired, so go ahead and look at this treasure at 10484 Silverock Drive in Eastwood Estates. I meant to tell you about it last week, but got busy with Deion Sanders. Paige Elliot has this listing and when I heard about it, I knew it would not last long. They never do.

How to explain Ju-Nel homes? They have a very strong following as these were homes that embraced the open floor plan light years before other builders or architects did.  Almost all the homes — about 50 — are in Eastwood Estates, Casa Linda, Old Lake Highlands and Lake Highlands. They are named after the builders who built them, or maybe their daughters, Lyle Rowley and Jack Wilson. Both men worked for well known architect Howard Meyer who designed Temple Emanu-El and 3525 Turtle Creek Blvd — mid century with a capital M — among other famous Dallas structures. Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright, and maybe also the Case Study homes in California, they left Meyer’s employ and began building these wonderful homes in about 1958. For twenty years these fabulously solid homes were constructed all across the eastern swath of Dallas, all with low pitched roofs, plate glass windows following the roofline, soffits with cut outs for trees, large rocks embedded in exterior walls, adobe brick, wood accent walls (so very early 60’s), irregular lots, lots of courtyards, contemporary lighting fixtures, vaulted ceilings, two-way fireplaces, Japanese screens, open floor plans, specific materials (terrazzo, copper) and best of all, my favorite: the Jack and Jill bathroom.

I would very much like to know who invented this bathroom, one bath that serves two bedrooms with the brilliance of double sinks and two doors. Brilliant!

10484-Silverock-patio 10484-Silverock-patio-2This Ju-Nel has four bedrooms, three full baths. I don’t think powder rooms were major in Ju-Nel’s. It’s one of the larger ones at 2422 square feet. It’s been beautifully, impeccably updated with recessed lighting, hardwoods, fireplace in living and dining room, eat in kitchen with spacious pantry and stunning cabinetry, carrera marble baths, huge master with sitting area and walk in closets, two master bedrooms, actually, which is unusual for a Ju Nel, and large outdoor spaces with huge, mature trees. Of course it’s in the heart of Dallas, went on the market August 29, 2014. I was notified about a day later, and Paige had it under contract in two weeks. God she’s FAST!

You just cannot keep these homes, they are too hot, too much in demand.

Isn’t it funny how the design and style just caught on and resonated with so many people, even 56 years later. Asking is $425,000 and I don’t think a half a cent was shaved off that price… but of course, we shall see.10484-Silverock-LR 10484-Silverock-LR2 10484-Silverock-LR3 10484-Silverock-DR 10484-Silverock-DR2 10484-Silverock-kitchen11 10484-Silverock-kitchen2 10484-Silverock-master 10484-master-bedroom-1 10484-Silverock-master-bedroom-21 10484-Silverock-master-bath 10484-Silverock-bedroom1 10484-Silverock-bedroom-2 10484-Silverock-bedroom4 10484-Silverock-rear 10484-Silverock-rear-yard 10484-Silverock-rear 10484-Silverock-rear-yard
