John Carona’s English Tudor Manor House is on the Market!

You have never seen anything quite like this grand English Tudor manor house in Dallas. In fact, any member of the royal family would feel completely at home at 5131 Deloache Avenue in the Sunnybrook Estates neighborhood of Old Preston Hollow. It has all of the custom millwork and hand-crafted details that create an aura of stepping back in time to a more genteel way of living. You half expect to see a corgi or two running up to greet you upon arriving in the jaw-dropping entry hall.

This English Tudor manor house was a custom build by Randy Hughes with Robbie Fusch, founder of Fusch Architects, for John Carona. You may remember Carona was a Texas Senator, and is now the Chairman and CEO of Associa. If you are a fan of Undercover Boss, the façade of the home should be familiar. The show’s final scene was filmed here where Carona reveals what he will do for the employees featured in the episode.

Carona also supported our own Candy Evans in her run for city council, so yeah we’re partial to the man as well as his house!5131-Deloache-Ave-1The house sits on 2.27 acres of lush private lawns landscaped by Harold Leidner, who included a fruit orchard and a koi pond on the property. There is also a koi pond and a swimming pool, because seriously, with a house this size, you need the koi pond to have cocktails around and the swimming pool to use when the cocktails kick in and the party really gets going!

This beautiful English Tudor manor house was built for parties. That entry hall should be filled, and often, with ladies in ball gowns and gentlemen in tuxedos who should then gracefully glide through all 12,014 square feet.

“The formality of the entry area is one of the things I absolutely love,” architect Lloyd Lumpkins said. Lumpkins was working for Fusch in 2006, at the time of construction, and was responsible for a good deal of what went into this stately English Tudor manor house. “This is the only house I’ve ever designed with a reception hall. I think the formality of the sequence of spaces and the level of detailing ranks up there with the Crespi Estate.”5131-Deloache-Ave-1The two-story library is one of the first rooms you see with a custom-built circular staircase and one of the seven hand-carved fireplaces designed by Lumpkins, who also designed the staircase with Wood Smith Stair Company.

5131-Deloache-Ave-5“The beams and trusses in the family room are unbelievable,” Lumpkins said. “There are windows inset on one side and a gallery on the other. On either side of the built-ins, we hid the air vents into the millwork. We paid attention to every detail.”

5131-Deloache-Ave-5The home has everything you can dream of, with five bedrooms, five bathrooms, three powder baths, a library, a home office, a media room, a game room, an exercise room, guest quarters, and a six-car garage. You might easily lose track of someone in this house, and depending on your family dynamics, that could be a good thing!

Of course, we must tell you about the location. If you are new to Dallas, Old Preston Hollow is one of the most desirable neighborhoods. Mark Cuban is a block away, and you can toss a football over the back fence to Roger Staubach. In other words, you are in good company.

This one-of-a-kind, simply stunning English Tudor manor house is listed by Allie Beth Allman for $8.9 million.

“You can’t build a house like this for that amount of money today,” Lumpkins said. “The quality is impeccable. It harkens back to another era. You could put this house in England, and you’d think it had been there for generations.”
