University Heights Tudor Almost Too Good to be True for a Cool $2 Million

Our Inwood Mortgage Home of the Week has everything. And what it doesn’t have, you can easy add or transition in. It’s located on a great street in University Park, a hefty, deep lot, and it comes in at a cool $2 million.

I’m talking about you, 3416 Wentwood. She was built in 2001, about the same year we built our house, so I see the “2001 design influence” stamped all over: white cabinets, granite, marble, free-standing sweeping stairway, rich hardwoods, maybe a brass fixture or two —  platinum was just coming into vogue. The innards are very similar to what I have in my house, except I really cooled it on the mouldings, and this baby went all out, at least in the formals. The electrical outlets are camouflaged in the baseboards, too. Hint: moldings can be removed and replaced, lickety split. Always look at the bones and design because anything, absolutely anything inside can be resurfaced.

3416-Wentwood-foyer-LR 3416-Wentwood-DR 3416-Wentwood-sitting 3416-Wentwood-FRThe home is a stone-wrought English Tudor with copper roof-lets, as I call them. Located in Hyer Elementary it sits on a whopping 70 foot wide lot in the Fairway. Newcomers, that’s a giant lot on the Park Cities. On the inside, it is also light & bright. The home is 5917 square feet and jam packs in five bedrooms, five full and two half baths, formals, three living areas plus a den, a breakfast room with built ins that I am so happy to see — when did we stop losing the built-ins in the breakfast room? The kitchen is loaded with all the tools a good chef needs with two dishwashers, warming drawer, and the usual high end appliances. Guess what else this home has: three fireplaces, a wet bar and an elevator for aging knees, infirm skiers or just to help you drag the luggage downstairs before your next trip.

And it has a great big huge master bath, plus opens up to the backyard pool and spa. Off the family room is a covered patio with a grill and central fire pit.

So now you see what I mean: This home is marketed with Burton Rhodes of the Rhodes Group, listed for $2 million and it has everything. What may be a bit outdated — the brass fixtures — can be changed out for very little. There’s one thing you will not, however, want to change out: the location. It spells Highland Park schools. Holler at the good folks over at Inwood Mortgage — they are working this week, yes — and tell them you need some money, honey, for 3416 Wentwood. Then go get yourself a new house under contract for Christmas!3416-Wentwood-gamerm 3416-Wentwood-room 3416-Wentwood-study 3416-Wentwood-landing 3416-Wentwood-large-gamerm 3416-Wentwood-patio-fire-pit 3416-Wentwood-grill 3416-Wentwood-pool
