Matchy Matchy Interior of This Alabama Home Makes It More Crazy Than Sassy

We don’t use the word “sassy” nearly enough. The word is defined as “lively, bold, and full of spirit.” It is safe to say that the women I attended college with were sassy. And even though we are in our 50s now, the sassy level has not diminished one bit.

Yep, that is how my friends and I walked around the University of Alabama campus all those many years ago. We were so sassy that we created our own sorority known as the OMA’s (Old Maids Anonymous). We had bylaws, sorority nicknames, and a salute, the OMA Honor, that we would give to each other when one of us did something well.

More importantly, when one of us did something questionable we would hold a tribunal or intervention and discuss what led to this horrible, scandalous decision.

I give you all this backstory because of the house featured in this week’s column. If any OMA was responsible for this home she would absolutely be brought before the tribunal and I tell you, there would be a lot of explaining to do.

This Georgian home has five bedrooms, six-and-a-half bathrooms, and is a little more than 7,200 square feet in size. It is located at 3123 Overhill Road, Mountain Brook, Alabama and sits on 1.3 acres. The asking price is $4.995 million.

Let the tribunal begin.

The foyer of the home looks wonderful.

Okay, this is where the questioning would begin. First question: Where does the upholstery end and the wallpaper begin? We can’t tell.

To get in the right mindset for an intervention, we’d head for the bar. I have no doubt that an “Oh Lordy” would be shouted out as the search for hard liquor began.

Even the kids in the paintings do not want to be in that room.

At this point, the OMA sisters would have to regroup and figure out how we failed our fellow sister to the point that she manically made everything in her house match from the walls to the sofa to the chairs.

It is at this point of the tribunal that one of us would have come across the extraordinarily large wine cellar.

Seeing all the empty spaces in said wine cellar would be the answer to questions regarding the interior of the house. So like true OMA sisters we would help finish off what was remaining and take our sassy selves to the nearest bar because that house is too much.
