Grinchy Colorado Listing Is As Charming As An Eel

WTF1219grinch01With a holiday as generally happy as Christmas, it’s sometimes difficult to find a good Wednesday WTF. But then a coworker found this Colorado listing that made our hearts grow three sizes.

See, on the outside, it’s pretty normal (like most Wednesday WTFs start out, if we’re being super honest here). And there are plenty of lovely living spaces throughout the home.

But your first indication that this is not your usual listing is the description.

“My name rhymes with Cinch and you know what I do, I’m all about stealing Christmas from you,” it says.
Wait. What?

Then you page through the rest of the photos.

And yes, that would be the Grinch on the commode, just in case you were wondering if your eyes are deceiving you.

The rest of the description:

“I love this house and would make it my own, the problem I have is I need a loan. It has all the nice features a family would want, invite your friends over and then you can flaunt. It has a huge lot and a shed’s out there too and four bedrooms are just waiting for you. The basement has one that is nonconforming, but that will not stop your sleep on Christmas morning. The nice modern kitchen and three bathrooms are just gleaming, the gorgeous remodel leaves everyone beaming. The roof and the furnace not brand new but newer, as well there has been a repair to the sewer. So don’t be delayed come and see it right now, you will not be dismayed but so happy and wowed. If you beat me to it you’ll be joyful indeed and have all the home that your family could need! (By the way, I ate all the cookies.)”

I totally understand the need to pull out some clever marketing when your listing has been on the market for 164 days, like this home has been.

And of course, we’re suckers for some fun marketing. But sometimes that notoriety can backfire, as this Conroe Realtor found (she also may have discovered that people passing around your listing like wildfire doesn’t necessarily translate to sales, too, since this home is still on the market).

We say this often around here, but professional photography and staging cost less than your first price reduction, and can play up a home’s best features.

So somewhat serious question: will a gimmick override lackluster photography, or an unstaged house, when the listing isn’t selling? Sound off in the comments! Want to see more pictures? Click here.
