Home Tour Update: Two Properties Pulled From Events Due to Tornado Damage

This Palm Springs Modern was badly damaged in the Oct. 20 tornado and was pulled from the Perservation Dallas Fall Architectural Tour.

Two upcoming Dallas home tours will have to close properties from tour-goers due to damage from Sunday’s tornadoes. One tragic loss was to be a highlight of this weekend’s Preservation Dallas Fall Architectural tour. The other is a striking modern by M Gooden Design that was to host the VIP event at the AIA Dallas Tour of Homes on Nov. 2-3.

According to David Preziosi of Preservation Dallas, the Palm Springs-style Crownrich House sustained significant damage from the storm.

“Very sad about the damage to such a unique house!” Preziosi said.

The Oct. 30 Premiere Party was to be held at this M. Gooden Design home. However, storm damage has resulted in it being closed to tour-goers.

The other home was this stunning cubic modern from M. Gooden Design.

Here’s the official statement from AIA Dallas spokesperson Carrie Dyer:

First, I wanted to let you know that due to the tornadoes that swept through the area on Sunday, the premiere party home sustained damage, and the homeowners understandably have had to withdraw it from the event. We have confirmed a replacement home for the premiere party on Wednesday, October 30, but are unable to offer the VIP ticket upgrade to see that home on tour during limited hours as was originally planned. Current VIP ticket holders will still be able to visit any of the seven homes on tour, and will have the option of being refunded the $20 VIP ticket price difference, or donating the $20 to recovery efforts.

The Premiere Party’s new location is 5505 Montrose Drive in Greenway Park. It was designed by its Perkins+Will architect-owner.

Second, I’m happy to report none of the other seven tour homes were devastated by Sunday’s storms. We were worried about one in Preston Hollow one in Urban Reserve, two communities greatly impacted by the storms Sunday, but both homeowners confirmed they are fine and tour-ready.
