Highland Park Georgian Gem is a Classic in a Perfect Location

Our Inwood House of the Week from Inwood National Bank is exactly the sort of home Neiman Marcus seeks out as a location for their furniture and linen catalogs. I know because in another life I used to scout for homes exactly like this one. With their ordered facades, perfect proportions and simple elegance of design, Georgian homes have always stood for stability and prestige. This Highland Park Georgian gem at 4529 North Versailles Avenue is a shining example of that traditional, classic look that has such a universal appeal.

“The house has a lot of the classic New England architecture I grew up with — elegant and timeless,” the seller said.  “Once I stepped inside, I could tell great care was put into making this very unique and not at all predictable. It was grand and cozy at the same time.”

That’s the beauty of these homes, the traditional look breeds a sense of comfort. Symmetrical interiors are inherently peaceful and restful.

It’s not often that an entry takes me by surprise, but this one is enormous even for a Georgian. It opens into the formal living and dining rooms. Floor-to-ceiling windows surround a custom cast-stone fireplace in the living room. Amazing decorative molding graces each wall, creating that classic look that befits a formal space.

The family room has another huge cast-iron fireplace flanked by built-in bookcases. It overlooks the patio and saltwater pool which, by the way, features Ann Sacks tile.

The gourmet kitchen is centered around a beautiful blue-gray granite island. The on-trend white cabinets are fitted with Italian hardware and, of course, there are Viking appliances.

The first floor also features a study with a private bathroom bathed in Carrara marble.

Four bedrooms are on the second floor, including the master suite with yet more floor-to-ceiling windows. The master also has a private balcony overlooking that gorgeous pool. There are his-and-her’s bathrooms — yes you read that right, two bathrooms — and separate walk-in closets. Now that’s a recipe for a happy marriage.

The media room and another bedroom occupy the third floor bringing, the grand total of bedrooms to five. There are seven bathrooms and a powder bath in the 5,272-square-foot, three-story home. Originally built in 1985, it underwent an extensive remodel in 2006. The present owners put their touch on the exterior.

“The putting green was originally a beautiful rose garden, but I was not able to make them grow in the Texas heat,” said the seller.  “So we finally gave up and reconfigured it as a putting green.” This made their middle schooler, who is quite possibly the next Jordan Spieth, very happy.

Not only is this a gorgeous Georgian, it’s in possibly the best location in Highland Park—or perhaps even Dallas. It’s minutes from downtown and The Dallas Arts District, and steps from Flippen Park — yes, the one with the gazebo where more bridal portraits than you can count have taken place. Fairfax Park is only a half block away, so tennis enthusiasts and kiddos will both be happy. And you can walk to John S. Bradfield Elementary School.

It’s also a super quiet block with very little traffic.

“The only people that drive down the street are the ones that live there,” listing agent Diane DuVall-Rogers with Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International said. If a move-in ready Georgian in an absolutely perfect location is on your wish list, give Diane a call, and then give our friends at Inwood National Bank a call to get the ball rolling on purchasing this $2.55 million gem.

And don’t be surprised if a location scout comes knocking on your door one day!
