This week’s High Caliber Home of the Week, sponsored by Lisa Peters of Caliber Home Loans, is a sleek, sexy loft space on Cedar Springs Road. Loft living doesn’t get any better than this two-story double residence. Ok, but before you call the listing agent David Griffin, let us tell you about this beauty.
The dramatic interiors are the brainchild of owners Larry Ness and Belinda Deane Ness. The existing concrete and glass materials were accented with oak flooring, steel trimmed thresholds, those wonderful stainless steel wall panels, and black matte paint.

The beauty of loft living is the adaptability of the spaces. There is no end to the creative ways you can use them. Larry originally purchased one unit, and acting as the general contractor created the immaculate streamlined space you see today.
A sculptural oak and steel staircase floats up to the second level, seamlessly bisecting the formal living (shown on the left side of the photo above) and family spaces (shown on the right side). In the formal space, a floor-to-ceiling fireplace, trimmed in steel, provides another striking focal point to the refinement of this double-volume space.

About four years after he finished, his next-door neighbors decided to move. So he purchased their loft to combine with his and he went back to work.
“Of course that meant gutting it,” Larry said. “Belinda was inspirational. She made a lot of recommendations. We’d sit on the finished side and have a glass of wine, then go over to the dust pit on the other side and start working.”

The result is magnificent loft living with views of the Trinity River and Victory. There are more than 4,600 square feet, two bedrooms — both of which are principal suites, two baths, and a powder room. A staircase bisects the second floor with a living area on one side and a home office on the other. Another home office space is just off the main gallery entry with an adjoining bathroom.

Whoever is lucky enough to purchase this sophisticated loft will also enjoy the neighbors.
“I’m going to miss the people,” Larry said. “We have a great community here. It’s small enough that everyone knows and looks out for each other. I’m also going to miss the convenience. You don’t need to drive anywhere. There is a big Tom Thumb grocery store next to us, you can walk to great restaurants and there is always something going on downtown!”

Community amenities include an outdoor entertaining space and a swimming pool.
2011 Cedar Springs Road, Number 606 is listed by David Griffin of David Griffin and Company Realtors for $2.78 million, a $200,000 price drop since we last featured it back in May.
