The Moment We Saw This MCM, We Knew It Wouldn’t Last Long

A Midcentury Modern home near White Rock Lake is a hot commodity. An MCM that has four bedrooms, a dream outdoor living space that looks straight out of a magazine, and is listed for only $550,000 — well, that’s a golden unicorn born during a total solar eclipse in a leap year. Straightly put, it’s an amazing find.

For this week’s High Caliber Home, sponsored by Lisa Peters at Caliber Home Loans, we’re featuring 7236 Edgerton Drive, a unicorn listing by Jennifer Rice of Compass that flew off the market in record time.

“We listed the home on a Friday, and by Sunday we received three offers,” Jennifer says. “On Monday, we executed the contract.”

Three days!

It’s easy to fall in love in three days.

“The first time we saw this house, we knew it was the one,” says seller Ronnie Eichler, whose photography is featured throughout the home. The paintings of his partner Raphael Rosas are too showcased on the walls.

“We were drawn to the proximity of White Rock Lake, along with the conveniences that come with living in the city. Every day when we come home to this house, we marvel at the space we’ve been able to create,” Ronnie says.

Like many of the midcentury homes in this University Manor neighborhood near Northwest Highway and Mockingbird, this 1955-built home was remodeled in 2012 to showcase the home’s striking modern architecture and upgrade the interior for modern comforts.

When Ronnie and Raphael purchased the home in 2016, they made several more improvements.

On the front porch, they added a deck and sphere-shaped fountains imported from England — the inspiration for which came from Japanese zen gardens.

In the backyard, they added a deck with landscaping, pergola, and outdoor kitchen. The landscaping was designed by one of the owners, drawing on inspiration from their travels. The backyard features a custom-designed pergola, fabricated from powder-coated steel and cedar, and was designed to accommodate the owners’ Big Green Egg and passion for outdoor cooking.

Plus, the interior was so beautifully decorated, it didn’t need a lick of staging.
