This Geneva Heights Home Has a Sizable Footprint Planted in The Present and The Past

This week’s High Caliber Home of the Week, sponsored by Lisa Peters of Caliber Home Loans is a darling little lease listed by Lori Ericsson of David Griffin and Company Realtors — except that this ‘30s Tudor at 5921 Vanderbilt Ave. isn’t little at all.

“This house is a lot of square footage for the money,” Ericsson says. Yes, indeed. The two-story boasts four bedrooms, two baths, and 3,060 square feet.

That’s something you wouldn’t expect from a home built in 1933. But when this and nearby Tudors were first built, they were part of a new subdivision of Greenville Ave.-adjacent homes called Geneva Heights, which boasted wide streets and deep lots. Over the years, many of these ‘20s and ‘30s homes have been updated and expanded, and are enjoying third, fourth or even fifth lives.

Our 3,000+ square-foot lease here is no exception. From the front facade, you’ll notice two front doors there. I can’t speak to the exact origins of that, but both lead to some pretty spectacular interiors. One living area features a brick fireplace, white-trimmed windows, and gorgeous original hardwoods. The other living space below helps put my imagination to work.

Maybe I’m used to see these homes professionally staged with elegant modern transitional furniture, but the original wood trim, door, and floors really invoke those images of Geneva Heights as a brand new subdivision advertised by Dallas developers.

See what I’m saying?

Heading upstairs, the second floor features a huge second living area with balcony that overlooks the generous backyard. It’s more of a second-story deck than simply a balcony.

There’s an equally large primary suite. So big that it’ll probably take you a few different arrangements of the room to decide where you really want the bed.

The primary bathroom features a dual sinks with shaker style vanity, privacy glass blocks, a walk-in shower, and a seriously large walk-in closet.

Of course, this Greenville Ave. home is located walkable to restaurants, retail, and grocery stores, yet far enough away not to get hung up in traffic. If you do get stuck in traffic, just think back to this area’s history. We’ve come a long way since gravel paved roads and cable cars of the Belmont-Ervay line.

Lori Ericsson of David Griffin and Company Realtors has listed 5921 Vanderbilt Ave. for lease for $5,000 a month.
