Come learn, see examples, and sip some holiday treats from 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12 for an informative panel discussion on right-sizing your home.

We don’t just want to show you 31 Abbey Creek Way in North Dallas, Hawkins-Welwood Homes’ brand new, easy-living model at the beautiful Lawns of Glen Abbey. We want to show you how to right-size — how to build a home with everything you want and need on a tighter footprint— at a Daltxrealestate exclusive expert panel discussion from 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12.

You can get your tickets here.

We have put our heads together to assemble a panel of right-sizing (or, if you prefer the old-fashioned word, downsizing) experts including builder John Hawkins of Hawkins-Welwood Homes, Allan Ross of WaaL.Architecture, and certified professional organizer Nancy Peham.

Here’s more on the panel:

John Hawkins, president of Hawkins-Welwood Homes

John Hawkins is the principal behind Hawkins-Welwood Homes, and he has been building homes in North Texas for three decades. How does a man so beloved by his clients that they return to a Hawkins-Welwood home a second, third, and even fourth time, do it? How does a small luxury builder create a zero-lot-line development so rock-solid that owners seldom move out?

“It’s easy to build 95 percent of a house,” says John. “What’s difficult is keeping all the balls under the water. Home building is a complicated coordination of units along a timeline. Really, we are air traffic controllers.” John believes strongly that Dallas is becoming an urban environment, even on the plains of former cotton fields, and he is devoting more time to developing “downsizing” and walkable products.

Allan Ross is an expert in designing architectural spaces that supply baby boomers with what they seek in “right-sized” housing, as he has worked on several across North Texas. The list of preferences includes, but is not limited to, no worries while away, rooms that can accommodate oversized furniture, and more…

Nancy Peham, a Certified Professional Organizer® and member of the National Association of Productivity & Organizing Professionals. This year she’s celebrating 17 years as an organizer and owner of Helping Hands Personal Services. In addition to organizing virtually any area of a client’s home or office, she also prepares houses for sale and helps families downsize, pack, unpack and set up their homes after a move.

Is it even possible to think about downsizing during the holidays? You bet, in fact, it’s the perfect time to start. Our panel will show you how. Plus you can get a sneak peek inside a 4,119-square-foot beauty that is the quintessential downsizer home. It has everything you need on the first floor, with two bedrooms and a game room upstairs for those times when you need extra space — like when the kids (and their kids) come home.

“Our 31 Abbey Creek Way is a great example of how well Hawkins-Welwood builds homes and portrays the total benefits of first-floor living. Plus there is lots of light, windows, and storage space,” says Kelly Onega, sales manager for Hawkins-Welwood Homes. “The home is total lock and leave, very low maintenance which is a huge component of the right-sizing agenda.”
