In Glenridge Estates, Enjoy a Gorgeous Transitional With Designer Touches

I can say that, besides maybe doing a slightly different kitchen island (I’d go for something that blends with the hardwood floors instead of white) this is exactly the transitional style home for me. Not only does it have a fantastic layout thanks to an open living/dining/kitchen area right when you walk into the home, but it is staged so well, with just the right amount of color and style to make the spaces feel clean and open without feeling cluttered.

And boy, does this cutie have some serious curb appeal! Just look at that welcoming orange front door and that lovely stone and rock pathway!

Located in Glenridge Estates (west of Midway and south of Walnut Hill), 9836 Gooding Drive is a three-bedroom, two-bath home with almost 1,600 square feet that feels so much larger thanks to the open floorplan and beautiful new hardwood floors throughout. Built in 1952 and completely renovated with new doors and windows, fresh paint, new electrical, and a brand new fence, it’s marketed by Ebby Halliday Realtors Rob Schrickel and Brittney Hughes for $399,900.

Of course, I love that the home is completely open right when you walk in the front door, which takes advantage of all the natural light coming in from the new windows. The cool white paint and crown mouldings make the ceilings feel much higher, too.

Like I said, I love just about everything about the kitchen, even the cool drum-style pendant lights and sconces between the windows (what a neat touch!), but personally, I would have stained and sealed the woodwork and cabinetry on the island to coordinate with the floors, just to give it a little more presence and depth. Still, the marble counters, subway tile backsplash, and stainless appliances are serious style points. This kitchen is 100 percent transitional style.

If you love tidiness, then this house will be all over your pinboards! (Don’t forget, you can pin these photos just by hovering over them and clicking on the “Pin It” button!). There’s a great utility space off of the kitchen, which also leads to a lovely little mudroom space and on to the backyard.

The bedrooms, as you’d expect from a home this size, are a little on the cozy side, with the master clocking in at 14×13. Still, it feels open thanks to the windows and hardwood floors. The master bath is well designed, so while small, it feels more open thanks to the half-wall dividing the commode from the shower with frameless glass. Both baths feature marble-topped vanities and plenty of storage.

There’s also a bonus room in this home, which is staged as a studio, but could also be an office or separate family room. The French doors lead to the deck, so it would be a great place for a reading nook.

The backyard is where you can add your stamp, with plenty of room for some fun containers and creative landscaping. There’s a little storage building/workshop that also features a cute orange door, just like the main house. The deck is huge, and I love the white railing over the tan decking, which adds some personality. It’s great for entertaining, which you’re sure to do plenty of at this home.

What do you think? Me? I’m in love!
