Glass and Wood ‘Feels’ Wonderful in This Kessler Woods Home

Courtney Tauriac of Compass aptly calls this week’s High Caliber Home, sponsored by Lisa Peters of Caliber Home Loans, an architectural masterpiece that perfectly integrates nature and sophistication. She’s got a way with words like that.

Indeed, the 4,905-square-foot, four-bedroom home at 819 Kessler Woods Trail is a beautiful stacked creation by architect Jesse Rodriguez, AIA, of JRAF Studio.

Glass and wood are what make this home shine. Specifically exterior Accoya wood, an extremely durable and sustainable wood product that requires less frequent coatings for maintenance. (You might file away that helpful little builder tip for yourself, I know I am.)

Walk into the foyer, shown above, and you’re already in the heart of the house. See that door the left background? That’s a seamlessly hidden half bath off the grand foyer. Then head up the stairs, where the dining area and kitchen are in front of you, the living area to your right.

“The kitchen has such simple elegance,” Tauriac says. It’s interesting how soft and calming the European horizontal grain white oak cabinetry feels. And yes, I think wood cabinets do give off a feeling.

The gourmet kitchen features top-of-the-line Miele appliances, built-in wine refrigerator, a 12 x 9 butler’s pantry with wet bar and open shelving, and quartz countertops with waterfall edge.

There is a separate walk-in pantry up the stairs on the left with an under-stair storage room. “The pantry storage space is perfect for moments like we’re in now,” Tauriac says.

“The living room overlooks the backyard, so there’s a beautiful blue hue that comes off the pool,” Tauriac says. Chevron pattern marble surrounds the fireplace with floating quartz hearth and flanking built-in shelves.

There’s a sanctuary of a master suite that offers serene views and a luxuriously appointed bathroom. “Actually the master bedroom views are some of my favorites,” she says. “You can gaze out onto Stevens Park and appreciate the natural topography and views of the mature treetops.”

The horizontal grain white oak cabinetry continues in the marble-laid bath. The shower is a fully automated Kohler DTV shower system with voice activation and customizable settings.

“One of the wow factors is the way this home is perched on top of the grassy hill,” Tauriac says. All the homes in this beautiful neighborhood are built into the topography, meant to harmonize with landscape and neighboring homes, she says.
